A cop is in hot water after a video showing him brutally unleashing his rattan stick at motorist apprehended for alleged traffic violation has gone viral.
According to the video sender, his brother Marvin Calda and a friend identified as Mac Villanueva were apprehended by PO1s JOSE TANDOG at CHITO ENRIQUEZ for an unnamed violation but when they realized they forgot to bring the citation paraphenalia, they decided to bring them to the nearest barangay hall in Brgy. San Jose.
If you watch the video secretly recorded by Marvin, the victims argued with the police regarding their apprehension.
When one of them asked for the rules and regulations of the barangay, a voice can be heard making a remark, “Ang dami nyong alam.”
The same voice can be heard telling Calda and Villanueva that when they told them to get on board the police service, they refused.
To which a voice replied: “Sir kaya naman namin maglakad.” Another voice can be heard appealing to the cops not to handcuffed him since he has done nothing wrong.
“Mali naman kami, sasama na nga kami. Kung gusto nya kami tiketan, tiketan nyo kami.” (Yes, we committed something wrong, that is why we came. If you want to cite us a ticket, go ahead.) Not the best translation but you get the gist, right?
This is when the cop holding a baton made o rattan replied, “Gusto mo? Gusto mo ha?” followed by a blow to the midsection of the victim. Then, several more blows hitting the victim in different of the body. You can tell if the hit was solid by the cracking sound after the rattan stick hit the victim.
When the cop stopped swinging with the rattan stick, he urged the victim to put up a fight, drawing his gun while shouting, “Sige laban kayo, paputukan ko kayo.”
If you think he stopped after that, you’re dead wrong.
The baton-wielding cop resumed his rampage but with more ferocity, hitting the two victims with all the force he could muster while cussing his hapless victims.
In the post, Iris asked the whereabouts of Ron2x and the tanods and why no action was taken regarding their complaint.
It was also learned that a certain Urbina tried to convince Iris Calda not to post the incident on social media but she don’t want to hear any of it because she wants justice served to the victims of police brutality.
Read the post of Iris Calda, sister of Marvin Calda as she narrated the incident.
POLICE BRUTALITY SA BRGY. SAN JOSE
Diba mission ng mga police to “serve and protect”? May karapatan kami ipaglalaban namin.
As of this writing, the post has quickly spread like wild fire, gathering 409,000 views, 20,672 shares and 5,700 reactions in just 4 hours after it hit social media.
Netizens condemned the police brutality and demanded nothing less but a quick dismissal of the police from service.
Update: The cop who was filmed harming the curfew violators, not traffic violators as earlier reported was sacked from his job.
