Army Lt. Colonel responds to Sarah Elago’s “ROTC won’t teach discipline” statement: “Hindi kami robot ayon sa inyong propaganda.”

Army Lt. Colonel Harold Cabunoc responded to Kabataan Partylist Rep. Sarah Elago’s statement “ROTC won’t teach discipline and nationalism but blind obedience” on Facebook.

In a Facebook post, Cabunoc told Elago that he disagree with her based on his experience at MSU Marawi ROTC.

Cabunoc claimed that he learned discipline that he did not pick up from her parents like respecting the national flag in a higher level.

He learned that in flag raising, one should put stand erect while singing the national anthem heartily. Also, he learned that love of country is learning by heart that when there are foreign invaders, one should be ready to defend and die for the country.

But to fulfill this, ROTC taught him to respect the chain of command and follow the rule of law.

In addition, ROTC has taught him to become a team player and learn to put the interest of the team over personal interest because it harms team integrity and suffer defeat at the hands of the enemy.

ROTC also taught him Troop leading procedures which mold them into find leaders of small units where they were taught how to plan using the participation of the members of the team and choose the course of action in completing a mission.
This, Cabunoc said, is not blind obedience but leadership development.

In short, Cabunoc said, they are not robots according to their propaganda.

Meanwhile, Cabunoc urged Elago to compare how the leftist organizations recruit the youths to their ranks to join their rallies and eventually becoming recruits of their armed struggle.

In addition, Cabunoc told Elago to compare what Salugpungan at ALCADEV (Lumad schools allegedly run by NGO’s) in Mindanao has been doing, to instruct lumad students to sing “Lupang Sinira”, make lumad students act out as rebels and eventually turn them into child warriors like Asenad Bago of Talaingod.

Cabunoc declared, that is blind obedience of the communist.

Cabunoc ended the post by telling Elago, “Ayaw mi ninyo ilara uy. Sanamagan!” (Don’t take us for fools. Sanamagan!)

Sanamagan!
