CHR lawyering for ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal? Netizen asks: “Since when a closure of a media outfit is a major concern of human rights?”

Facebook netizen Tessa Roines was fuming mad in reaction to news report that CHR has issued a statement regarding the possible non-renewal of ABS-CBN franchise.

Roines could only asked in disbelief since when a closure of a media outfit is a major concern of human rights?

Roines rattled off the sins of ABS-CBN to the people: failure of providing unbiased reporting, displayed irresponsible journalism and opinion-based reporting.

Roines downplayed ABS-CBN’s so-called investigative reporting as nothing but a collection of opinions of anti-Duterte critics not on facts; investigative reporting mined from netizens social media accounts who are generally negative towards the incumbent.

Roines also cited the disrespectful and unapologetic attitude of its reporters and anchors.

In addition, Roines said that ABS-CBN’s shows have no educational value and mostly based on societal trends that promotes immorality and vices that sets bad examples to children and portrayal of killing spree and attribute it to the current admin.

Since when a closure of a media outfit who did not uphold its main role provided by the Constitution is a major concern of human rights?

Us, the people can actually enumerate the failure of ABS-CBN in providing unbiased reporting. They, instead, displayed irresponsible journalism and opinion-based reporting; some so called investigative reporting (also reporters) are based on opinions in favour of those who are against the current Duterte administration NOT based on facts; “investigative reporting” were mined from netizens’ social media accounts who are generally negative towards the current admin (still Duterte); most reporters and anchors are disrespectful and unapologetic; NO educational tv programs, most are all based on societal ‘s trend of moral ascendancy i.e. betrayal, deceit, extra- marital affairs, warring citizens and public enforcers; immorality, nudeness and bitchiness are shown on prime time – not a good example for children and portrayal of killing spree (EJK) all accredited and blamed to the current admin not to mention the exaggerated reported figures. 😈😈 too many to mention..!

I wonder where does MTRCB comes in?

“In a statement released on Friday, CHR Spokesperson Jacqueline Ann C. de Guia said “Non-renewal can be tantamount to shutting down the network. If an entire media giant would be toppled down due to political caprice, it could signal the beginning of a bleaker state of press freedom in the country and a catapult to the wave of previous assaults to media.”
