A poem written by a big supporter of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte expressing her support for the candidacy of the Mayor of Davao City is doing the rounds online.
The poet also admits that this is the first time that her family is actively promoting a Presidential candidate in the social media.
The poem is penned in Tagalog, perhaps to capture a bigger portion of the audience who perfectly understands the language. Besides, the Tagalog language perfectly articulated the sentiments of the poet which I believe many supporters of Duterte will agree too.
In the beginning of the poem, the poet called out Mar Roxas for lacking originality and merely copying the color of President Pnoy including the slogan and platform of governance, of the so-called “Tuwid na Daan.”
Next, the poet highlight Mar Roxas’ lack of principle. The poet cited the embarrassing Mamasapano fiasco wherein Roxas was left out allegedly by Pnoy but when the operation failed, he was tasked to face the family of those who perished in the firefight. According to her, Roxas’s Wharton degree proved useless as he could not put it into better use and could only ask himself in the aftermath: “Could I have done something about it to change the outcome had I known about the Mamasapano operation before hand?”
Next, the poet mocks Roxas’s claim of treating Filipinos with equality should he win the Presidency when his action in the past proved otherwise. The poet cited the Yolanda aftermath wherein he told Mayor Romualdez “You are a Romualdez, our President is an Aquino,Bahala na kayo sa buhay nyo!” Ouch!!!
In the remaining paragraphs, the poet explained why she is supporting Duterte, stating she believes in what Mayor Duterte stands for. She also expresses her desire to try the other path, not just the “Tuwid na Daan” of the outgoing administration.
Please read the poem below to have a better appreciation of the beautiful creation of the poet.
“you are a Romualdez, our President is an Aquino,
