Duterte supporter tells CBS News & 60 Minutes interview of Maria Ressa disappoints many Filipinos, say Rappler not credible source, moreso slightly popular

As expected, the supporters of President Duterte (DDS) weren’t ecstatic how Maria Ressa of Rappler described the Philippines as far worse than any w@r zone she had been in as a journalist during an interview with 60 Minutes.

MJ Quiambao Reyes, a known staunch supporter of President Duterte isn’t one of them.

Despite her busy schedule as international commodities trader, she wrote an emotionally-charged open letter calling out CBS News and 60 minutes telling them they interviewed the wrong journalist to talk about the Philippines.

Reyes dismissed Rappler as not even slightly popular, moreso credible in the local news scene worthy of President Duterte’s attention and even his supporters.

Reyes argued that if President Duterte was indeed the monster Maria Ressa portrayed him to be, he would have turned his attention to the bigger and more popular news agencies present in both mainstream & social media which are equally or even more critical of this admin than Maria Ressa ever was and will be.

Reyes provided screenshots of how pathetic Rappler’s social media engagement when they don’t publish fake news against Duterte and vice versa as proof that Ressa’s Rappler did not merit their attention.

In the second screenshot she called exhibit B, Reyes showed that an ordinary netizen using a personal account generates more social media engagement compared to Rappler when the topic is about President Duterte.

Reyes ended the FB post with a word of advice to CBS News and 60 Minutes to instead look into the alleged millions of $$$ did some of them receive as “funds” and “donations” from questionable aliens!

You may read the original article below.

Dear CBS News & 60 Minutes Producers:

Do you really believe that a President, so loved & trusted by 80+ Filipinos, can be bothered by an online news outlet that’s not even slightly popular, moreso credible?

Do you really think that he & his supporters will waste time, resources, & energy for a critic who does not have the reach and cannot even gather significant engagement?

Reyes dismissed Rappler as a small-player in the local news scene whose engagement is almost none existent except when they publish anti-Duterte articles.

See, the only time that this online entity can get some engagement is when they publish anti-Duterte articles. Yes–as that’s also the only time that the 3% haters of this admin (who obviously do not also read this entity regularly) will at least use a few seconds of their time to support anti-Duterte narratives. [See Exhibit A below]

Now, for purposes of comparison: Please check out the thousands of organic reactions that an ordinary netizen can easily get online using an ordinary FB personal account (yup, not even a page). No funding. No boosting. No fake news. [See Exhibit B below]

So again, why should we even care for an online entity that’s almost non existent?

FACTS:

➡️ There are bigger, more popular news agencies present in both mainstream & social media which are equally or even more critical of this admin than Maria Ressa.

➡️ There are other journos & pseudo journos, bloggers & ogres, and even celebrities who have been openly and incessantly attacking the President and this government.

➡️ Like Maria Ressa, they are ALL alive and unharmed.

➡️ Contrary to what she & her ilk are trying to paint, they have never been as free and as loud and as arrogant to speak against the government as they are now.

➡️ And yes, they have never been as rich, too!

Now, please do your homework and check out how many millions of $$$ did some of them receive as “funds” and “donations” from questionable aliens!
