Female lawyer lectures Pangilinan, Hontiveros on UNCLOS, tells Kiko to study before talking, its embarrassing to Ate Shawie

Senators Pangilinan and Hontiveros want President Duterte to assert our claim in the West Philippine Sea against Chinese missiles.

While President Duterte remain unperturbed amidst the noise created by critics, it appears the President knows something we ordinary mortals don’t.

Well, that is what the Facebook post of a lawyer Trixie Cruz-Angeles all about.

Angeles was actually responding to the statement made by Senator Risa Hontiveros who allegedly said that the Philippines “should assert our rights in the WPH against China’s missiles.”

Angeles said Hontiveros and Pangilinan are wrong in insisting that Duterte should assert our sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea.

According to Angeles, “our rights in the area are limited to sovereign rights not sovereignty and the UNCLOS is silent on military installations.”

On fears that the missiles positioned in the West Philippine Sea poses imminent danger to the Philippines, Angeles remarked that these fears are unjustified.

She said in the age of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, distance is not an issue.

Besides, Angeles remarked, the Philippines has no right against these installations.

Re alleged militarization in the West Philippine Sea.

Construction began during the Aquino administration, and they did nothing to prevent it. Instead they filed the case for arbitration with the Tribunal.

The decision states that military installations are not within the coverage of the Tribunal’s jurisdiction.

This is because the UNCLOS is silent about such installations. and the rights of parties litigated in the arbitral case only involved the Exclusive Economic Zone.

However, the Big Lie being peddled by the opposition as stated by Risa Hontiveros goes, “We should assert our rights in the WPH against China’s missiles.”

Uh. Mali. Our rights in the area are limited to sovereign rights not sovereignty and the UNCLOS is silent on military installations.

Kaso agit na agit sila dahil may missiles daw. Nakakatakot daw. Baka tayo mapahmak sa weapons na yan, daw.

First, in the age of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, hindi kailangan malapit ang weapons para mapahamak tayo.

Second, wala tayong rights nga against these installations.

Third, what do they propose we do?

Madame, hindi po pwede i-oido ang international law and diplomacy.

Meanwhile, Angeles told Pangilinan to study first before opening his mouth. It is embarrassing to Ate Shawie.

Aral muna bago magsalita. Nakakahiya kay Ate Shawie.

Dear Sen. Kiko:

Sovereign rights lang po ang meron tayo dyan. At sinabi na ng Arbitration Tribunal hindi sumasailalim sa UNCLOS ang military installations.

Aral muna bago magsalita. Nakakahiya kay Ate Shawie.
