Alden Richards of the ALDUB fame is playing the role of a martial law victim in a GMA documentary to commemorate the September 21 Martial law declaration.
During an interview with bloggers, Alden Richards was asked to describe his role in the Martial Law documentary produced by the actor’s mother studio, GMA 7 and this is what the actor had to say:
“It’s going to be a documentary of Boni Ilagan. He is an activist during the Martial Law, during Marcos time. So I’m gonna be him in this project and ikukuwento namin yung what happened to him during the Martial Law.”
While his fans are excited to see him play another challenging role, not all are very happy though.
Fil-Am blogger and political expert using the handle Flippinflips on Facebook harshly criticized the popular actor for accepting the role portraying a Martial Law prisoner.
In the post, Flippinflips accused Richards of accepting the role of the Martial Law victim in the hope of bagging an acting award for television.
At one point, Flippinflips tells Richards to learn Constitutional law so that he will not grow old and dumb like Jim Paredes.

And second, yes you have a lot of fans but Marcos’ laws that incredibly heightened the economy of our country during his terms will never be forgotten to most Filipino’s, too bad for you—you did a wrong move, fame can be forgotten.”
Meanwhile, some netizens defended Alden Richards for accepting the role because its the nature of his work.
Emerald De Amor remarked: “Bakit si Alden ang babanatan nyo? Yung producer ang banatan nyo… wag yung artista, wala na kayo sa tamang wisyo!Basta , Basta ako, di ako manonood nyan!”
