Furious Sara Duterte reiterates call for boycott of NPA-affiliated party lists after KMU-led roadblock paralyzed Davao City highway

So yesterday, a highway located in Barangay Lasang Davao City was shut down by a group of militants from the Kilusang Mayo Uno protesting about workers’ rights.

As per Facebook post of the page “Talahib”, the KMU militants set up the road blockade in front of Task Force Davao, preventing commuters from passing through.

Instead of sympathy, the KMU militants have earned the ire of the public and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

Netizen Benjamin Abano Jr. couldn’t help but lashed at the militants, calling their act “stupidity at its best.”

“Stupidity at it’s Best!!! How can you Expect the Support of the People when you Infringe/ Disrespect on their Rights & Daily Lives!!!!!”

Jun Tumlos called them “pest”, saying these militants wants the people to suffer and get angry at the government.

“Mga salot. Gusto nla mag hirap ang mga tao para magalit sa gobyerno. Bulok na taktika ng mga teroristang KMU/CPP.”

Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor released a statement via the official Facebook page of the Davao City government condemning the militants.

In anger, Mayor Sara Duterte reiterated her call to the public to boycott all NPA-affiliated partylist in the 2019 election specifically the partylist groups under the Makabayan bloc — these are Bayan Muna, Alliance of Concerned Teachers or ACT Teachers, Anakpawis, Gabriela, Kabataan, and Migrante.

STATEMENT BY MAYOR SARA DUTERTE ON THE KMU ROADBLOCK IN BARANGAY LASANG

The roadblock led by Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) in Barangay Lasang in Davao City yesterday was an example of how these groups intend to govern should they be given the power to lead our government and the country.

They terrorize, engender lawlessness, create confusion, disrespect fellow human beings, put lives in danger, and disregard any authority altogether.

The extreme inconvenience they created to the transport of goods and people yesterday was the reason why they get no support from the Dabawenyos.

We all know now that these militant groups, who masquerade themselves as pro-people, only want to sow hostility and chaos, especially to those who reject them and the terrorist groups they support — the New People’s Army (NPA), the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), and the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).

Davao City and the Dabawenyos were once again the target of these groups yesterday. But the Dabawenyos stood tall.

We are grateful to the Commanders and the men and women of the Davao City Police Office and Task Force Davao, and to the Brgy. Captain and residents of Brgy. Lasang for showing these groups the lunacy of their act.

We are all victims of these terrorist-loving militant organizations who do not seem to know what they really want from society.

In the 2019 elections, please be reminded of what happened yesterday and the previous incidents involving these militant groups. Do not support the partylist groups under the Makabayan bloc — these are Bayan Muna, Alliance of Concerned Teachers or ACT Teachers, Anakpawis, Gabriela, Kabataan, and Migrante.

Daghang salamat sa inyong pagpasensya.

Here are some the comments of netizens in reaction to Sara Duterte’s statement.

Maxwell Selim Gurang Jr. i am a UCCP Panabo member and an elder of the church and i strongly condemn these kind of unruly behavior and acts. last night we celebrated the last vigil service of my late father at our local church in panabo when they suddenly arrived to vacate our old church building that we are to demolish very soon for a new bigger one. i don’t want to question our leadership for allowing them but i want to express my burden on this issue. we as the church abide with the laws of the land and willingly submit to the authorities God ordains as the bible clearly instructed. but we or i, don’t like idea of the common hearsays around that we as a church (UCCP) is a supporter of these militant organizations and even some rebellious groups…
