A post containing the open letter of former ABS-CBN reporter addressed to the Filipino voters has been doing the rounds online.
In a Facebook post published recently by Mr. Ira Panganiban, the former journalist asked the Filipino voters support the decision of the majority and rally behind whoever is the next leader so we can pursue progress and development and peace and order.
The former journalist clarifies though that we should not let them get their way if they take the wrong way.
He said we should let our elected officials know that we are one nation together, standing tall for progress and against evil.

Dear Filipino Voters,
Three weeks from now we decide who will lead us for the next 6-years.
And in the 30-years I have been a journalist, this is the first time I have seen such a bitter and hotly contested presidential elections.
With the final four candidates slugging it out like there was no tomorrow and their supporters taking the boxing gloves for them, it seems like it will be a bitter victory for whoever takes the crown.
An average of 25% is held by each candidate if we believe the survey companies who are doing the quantifying. This means the next president may be a minority chosen president. Our last president with this kind of numbers was Fidel V Ramos.
This is the best time for us to unite and get our act together as a country. This is the best time for us to move in one direction and tell the next set of leaders we vote into power that we will not stand for mediocrity and corrupt governance, that we expect the moon and the stars from them and we want it delivered.
But to do this, we cannot leave the voting precincts telling ourselves if our candidate does not win then the winner will get hell from us.
No, enough with the power play that big time politicians, power brokers, media and big business forces us to play.
As citizens, it is our now duty to support the decision of the majority. We should now rally behind whoever is the next leader so we can pursue progress and development and peace and order.
I’m not saying we let them get their way if they take the wrong way. I am saying we should let our elected officials know that we are one nation together, standing tall for progress and against evil.
I am saying we should let our next set of leaders know that we are one behind them if they do the right thing and one against them when they do the wrong actions.
Having different choices is well and good and a mark of a vibrant democracy. Being united in purpose and telling our elected leaders what we want is also good democracy.
So I ask everyone, support your choice and campaign for them (though please keep it civil).
But when the majority decides, let us drop all partisanship and support the victor with our cooperation and maybe we can move forward this time.
My best to all,
Filipino Voter Too
