Irate netizen tells Sen. Risa Hontiveros to start working, stop yapping and questioning PRRD’s wisdom re PCSO games shut down

As expected, Senator Risa Hontiveros came out swinging against PRRD on local media, heavily questioning PRRD’s wisdom in ordering the stoppage of all PCSO games like lotto.

Risa Hontiveros: “Why is President Duterte punishing ordinary people for the corruption of his officials?”

Hontiveros said that thousands of Filipinos relied on the PCSO for financial assistance to cover mostly medical expenses; at times these are matters of life and death for many. Many Filipinos also depend on the PCSO for their employment and livelihood on small lotto operations.

The senator must have felt good about herself after making the comment on the PCSO closure believing deep inside she made PRRD look bad in front of the millions of poor Filipinos who patronized lotto.

However, Carlo de Leon, a radio personality and DDS blogger defended PRRD from Hontiveros criticism.

De Leon turned to brilliant German writer Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe to explain to Hontiveros PRRD’s reason why shutting down PCSO albeit temporarily was a necessary evil.

“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.”

Simply put, getting rid of corruption at PCSO was PRRD’s priority and collateral damages like the temporary loss of income for the government and what-not in PRRD’s mind should not stop him from his goal of ending corruption in the agency.

De Leon, then turned his attention at Senator Hontiveros and emphatically told the senator that looking at the problem, staring at it and talking about it instead of looking for solutions, she will never help the Filipinos.

De Leon remarked Hontiveros’ problem is her penchant to oppose, criticize PRRD even if the President is doing something for the greater good. De Leon said Hontiveros’ other problem is she keeps talking without even thinking. And lastly, De Leon told Hontiveros to start working. Ouch!

According to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, a brilliant German writer, and statesman:

“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.”

The thing that matters most to Duterte is the elimination of corruption in government. Things that matter least are the collateral damages inevitable in a cleanup operation.

Of course, people will be displaced, and the government has to source the funds to pay for the beneficiaries of PCSO. But these problems can be solved by getting funds from other sources: PAGCOR, universal health care budget, through a better collection of taxes and duties, and other profitable GOCCs.

Senator Risa, if you keep looking at the problem, staring at it and yapping about it instead of looking for solutions, you will never help the Filipinos.

Ang mahirap sa iyo Risa, lahat ng magandang ginagawa ng presidente kinokontra mo! Hindi kana nagiisip, dakdak ka lang ng dakdak. Magtrabaho ka naman!
