Journalist brings up Lacson’s Martial Law years, fugitive days versus Taguiwalo’s NPA days amidst CA row

Yesterday, Lacson said Judy Taguiwalo might not get his support as the DSWD Secretary unless she stops intimidating members of the CA.

Based on reports from different local media outlets, these are the words of Sen. Lacson while talking to reporters.

“Kung ganyan ang attitude ng nominee or appointee, while I already manifested my support, baka magbago ang isip ko dahil sa lahat ng ayaw ko, pine-pressure ako either way.”

Lacson tells Taguiwalo to behave…

“Naghahanap siya ng boto, dapat she should behave. Hindi ‘yung parang nananakot o nag-i-intimidate, ‘wag ganun.”

Lacson has a piece of advice to Taguiwalo if she wants to hurdle the CA appointment.

“Kumbaga sa ano, nanliligaw ka sa members ng Commission on Appointments, parang mag-behave ka in such a away na parang nanunuyo ka.”

Lacson’s threat of withdrawing support for Judy Taguiwalo elicited negative reactions on social media.

Journalist Raymund B Villanueva took to Facebook expressing his sentiment on the Lacson-Taguiwalo issue.

Villanueva opened the post by sharing what he thinks are the reasons why Taguiwalo should attend the CA hearings.

Three things I think Judy Taguiwalo attends those CA confirmation hearings for:

1. To be given chance to serve the poor longer as DSWD secretary,
2. To honor NDFP’s nomination of her, and
3. To honor her obligation to her principal, PDut.

He added that Taguiwalo is not after the position but to serve the country.

“The most important, if I know her, is the service. It is not the position. (Naging UP Faculty Regent yan, no!)”

Villanueva then proceeded to confront Sen. Lacson by bringing up Judy’s escape from military detention which was hailed as a brave and heroic act versus tyranny and fascism, alluding to Lacson’s role in the Martial Law era.

Kitam?”

Your reaction, please!
