Critics of PRRD are once again in the offensive after Duterte joked about congratulating a rapist who carry out the crime knowing that he would die.
Duterte told Filipino diplomats that he don’t like kids being raped.
“What I don’t like are kids (being raped.) You can mess with, maybe Miss Universe. Maybe I will even congratulate you for having the balls to rape somebody when you know you are going to die.” [GMA News]
Duterte made the remark during a tourism event on Friday night in his home turf Davao City.
GMA News resident political analyst Richard Heydarian took to Facebook expressing his dismay of Duterte’s latest rape joke.
For heaven’s sake!
When will the horrendous “rape jokes” stop?
La Salle History professor Van Ybiernas, a Duterte supporter and social media defender once again took to Facebook defending Duterte and why Duterte still enjoys his support despite the latest rape joke about the Miss Universe.
Do you know why? Duterte is “teaching all of us a lesson that we should have learned a long time ago.”
You may start reading the enlightening post below now.
The president in all his perfect imperfections is teaching all of us a lesson that we should have learned a long time ago.
As individuals and as a nation, we must be who we are supposed to be, not who others want us to be.
The president is who he is. You support him for who he is, rape joke and all, not for who you want him to be. If you can’t accept him for who he is, then you must withdraw support if you are/were a supporter, and continue to oppose if you have been against him from the start.
Either way, you are entitled to your decision, because for all the president’s faults, and even while there is Martial Law in Mindanao, I feel that democracy is more vibrant than ever.
You disagree because the president keeps threatening to do things that challenge democracy. But you also fail to see that for all his talk, he has always respected democratic processes. Yes, he threatens and he intimidates, but how else is a person in his authority going to get what he wants? By exchanging favors? So you think a corrupt president is better than a strong president?
You don’t want a corrupt president? So, how is he going to get what he wants? He should charm people to follow him? Uhmmmmmmm, can you hardened traditional politicians (trapo) be charmed? Hahaha.
He should just respect your decisions and not push you? So you want a weak president instead of a strong one? Because you are afraid a strong president will commit abuses? If so, you are merely showing a lack of trust and faith in our political institutions and the people to put the president in his right place once he does wrong! If you are that person, then do not infect us who put Noynoy Aquino and his would-be successor in their right places —in the humiliation of defeat— because they did wrong! Like the Sackurian Trillanes, you are terribly out of tune!
I don’t know about you, but all I see is a president clawing, biting, kicking with all his might in order to get the job done. He needs to because of people like you who makes his job more difficult than what it needs to be. But as a people who support the president, we’re not afraid of you. We’re ready for you termites! We knew from the start that the road to a better Philippines will be a bumpy one, so we’re ready for you now and we’ll be ready for you in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and beyond!
This is the task of national development and we’re ready! This country is going to be what it was supposed to be from the start: a country that is reflective of its people and its history! And Duterte is a reflection of his people and the country: we’re not perfect, we’re rough around the edges, but we love this country and we epitomize country before self, and we will get the job done one way or the other!
Please, don’t get in our way! Hahahaha
One week before the SONA, ready na ako! Hahaha
Netizen Joy Magbanua couldn’t agree more with Prof. Ybiernas. “we finally have a president who get things done —no d*mn excuses… 😛 😛 😛 this is spot on!”
