A post telling de Lima to end the bickering with Duterte, tell him everything she knows about the sins of previous admin is making the rounds online.

In a Facebook post, Dr. Antonio Contreras, political science professor in De La Salle University tells Senator de Lima to throw in the towel, cooperate with the Duterte admin rather than fight Malacanang in exchange for immunity.

In the post, Dr. Contreras says that de Lima should take a page from Lacson who evaded persecution under the Arroyo administration by going into hiding, only to re-emerge later and reclaimed his senate seat!

Dr. Contreras tells de Lima that it appears her party mates have abandoned her just like what they did to Neri Acosta and Raffy Biazon so fighting a lonely battle is nit worth it.

I really have to say this again, and I wish despite our differences, my kababayan Leila de Lima will take heed.

She should be at this time already reading the writings on the wall. Her party appears to be ignoring her. I will not be surprised if most of her party mates, or what is left of it, are now ready to abandon her, the same way they did to my good friend Neric Acosta, or to Ruffy Biazon.

What she should do now is to talk to President Duterte, tell him everything she knows about the drug trade, and all the shenanigans of the former administration, in exchange for immunity or if not, clemency. She should stop giving press conferences hoping that it would make a difference. It will not, if one has to base it on the angry birds flying on the screen whenever she speaks, and the laughing faces that follow when she tries to cry.

She should be reminded that no matter how righteous you are, you will not win against a government determined to destroy you. She should know, for she was a party to one who inflicted its full force on Chief Justice Renato Corona who died a broken man.

There is a time to fight. And there is a time to talk to the enemy, and hope for concessions.

Flight is not also totally that less politically astute. Look at Ping Lacson. He fled from Gloria’s persecution, and is now back in the Senate.

As to her concern that if she throws in the towel, or surrender, that the fight for human rights will end. she should not over-estimate her powers and influence. Right now, she has even become a liability to such a noble endeavor. She should not worry about this. There are so many well-meaning citizens, some of whom are even supportive of the President, who will continue to fight for what is right, but are not seriously damaged, and therefore has still the potency to make this battle one based on principles, and on the law, and not on self-interest, vengeance and hysterics.
