Lawyer offers unsolicited advice to Senator Ping Lacson amid word w@r with Palace

After the public scolding from President Duterte for his “extortion” remarks. Sen. Ping Lacson fired back by telling the President to read the 1987 Constitution, particularly Article VII Section 21 which says that no treaty or international agreement shall be valid and effective unless concurred in by at least two-thirds of all the Members of the Senate.

Was Senator Ping Lacson correct?

According to Atty. Nick Nañgit of the FB page Nick Nañgit – NCN Law, Senator Ping Lacson is partially correct. Indeed, senators have a say in international treaties or agreements because it needs their votes to become valid.

But, did the President enter with a new agreement?

“WALEY!” Atty. Nick answered.

Atty. Nick went on to explain to Senator Lacson what the President meant when he said America needs to pay if they want VFA.

Atty. Nick added that President Duterte is an equal to any leaders of the world, when speaking about international policy.

And the President alone can represent the country when it comes to foreign policy, not Lacson or any politician for that matter.

“Gets mo?” Atty. Nick asked.

Atty. Nick offered his unsolicited advice to Lacson, perhaps to avoid a repeat of a similar incident in the future.

Atty. Nick asked his socmed followers.
