If I were Chel Diokno, I would disappear from public life, drop whatever political ambitions I have in the future because as lawyer Trixie Cruz-Angeles puts it, his anointment as the moral compass of the opposition is now damaged beyond repair.
Angeles remarked that Chel Diokno was drafted into OtsoDiretso senatorial lineup in the 2019 election because of his relatively controversy-free legal career, does pro bono and defends human rights and the poor.
In short, Diokno is the embodiment of the Liberal Party spirit, hence he was an easy choice as their senatorial bet or even presidential material.
However, just one sneaky and unethical goony strike at the President by Diokno via the Writ of Kalikasan and his stock as LP’s 2022 presidential bet or senatoriable went up in smoke.
In case you missed it, Chel Diokno was one of the petitioners of the Writ of Kalikasan filed at the Supreme Court.
Writ of Kalikasan is a legal remedy under Philippine law that provides protection of one’s Constitutional right to a healthy environment, as outlined in Section 16, Article II of the Philippine Constitution, which says the “state shall protect and advance the right of the people to a balanced and healthful ecology in accord with the rhythm and harmony of nature.” [Wikipedia]

Chel Diokno was drafted into Otso Diretso because he had a relatively controversy free legal career, does pro bono and public interest law, defends human rights and the poor. He embodies all their ideals so it made sense that the Liberals et al would think he was senator or even presidential material.
But one is only as good as his or her last case. And the case of Abogado et al v. DENR et al, which was supposed to introduce him to the masses and give him popular appeal, sadly failed.
Unfortunately for Atty. Diokno, his stint as a candidate makes him a flashpoint. His agreement to be the opposition’s moral compass seems to have gotten derailed especially now that a Supreme Court Justice himself, J. Leonen said, “It seems counsel (IBP, represented by Atty Palacios) is blind to their own clients. That includes collaborating counsel (Diokno).” You see, it is elemetary that in orderto represent someone you have to know him and at least have met him.
This is turned a slightly sneaky strategy of compelling the government to comply with the PCA’s ruling (something the constitution does not allow because it is purely an executive mandate) into a downright underhanded possibly unethical goony strike at the President, using (or misusing) the judicial system.
I bet Atty Diokno did not see that coming.

Marvi Mayugba How can the Dean face his students n colleagues🙄?crystal clear na lumabas ang masamang hangarin na ibagsak si PRRD at ipahamak ang bansa laban sa China. I’ts unbecoming for a Dean from elite university being groom to run for presidentiable election on 2022.
Rocky Rush If it is true that he has some decency in him, as a human being, a Filipino, as a professional, it seems in the eyes of the nation he is now tainted!..
Not even just tainted.. he is now in DEEP YELLOW SHIT!!.. The stench follows him..
What a shame…
