A video of a domestic helper in Kuwait who jumped from the building to escape from an abusive employer has gone viral online.
Facebook user Calabanit Hardpags Jhondhie captured the heart-stopping scene from her apartment, a good distance away from the developing drama.
She said she felt helpless while watching the most dramatic scene unfold before her eyes.
Like many other female OFW, getting out of their apartment would be next to impossible, unless the employer forgot to lock the doors of their apartment when they leave for work or do their business for the day.
According to her, the incident occurred on January 29, 2017 at 2:40 PM.
Jhondhie said she went out to the balcony of her apartment and was shocked to see a woman dressed in abaya leaped from the 3rd floor of the apartment to the ground below.
Jhondhie said the woman, an OFW, first jumped from the 3rd floor to the 2nd floor. And then, from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor.
In the last part of the video, the Pinay OFW can be seen hanging precariously as she attempted the jump from the 2nd floor to the ground floor.
The Pinay OFW struggled for a minute or two to climb back to the balcony until her hands could no longer support her weight and fell to the ground.
Jhondhie remarked that she was shocked that a building that high, the Pinay had the courage to jump from 2nd floor to the first floor.
In the video, the Pinay OFW, fell from the 2nd floor to the ground floor while she was attempting to leap to freedom.
The Pinay OFW fell so hard that the uploader of the video could hear the noise created by the impact of the fall, though Jhondie was a good distance away from her.
Jhondie said she immediately rushed outside to check the Pinay OFW wjo fell to the ground.
She thought her fellow OFW died because of the blood covering the victim’s mouth but thankfully she said, an Indian driver who happened to be nearby called a taxi and instructed the driver to deliver the Pinay OFW to the Philippine embassy.
Jhondie remarked that she wanted to help but fear got the best of her that she felt her entire body shook.
She said she could still feel the shock when she watched the videos again.

The post of Jhondie has resurrected the debate whether to ban the deployment of OFW’s to the Middle East among netizens. Some are calling the government to implement a ban while others oppose the plan because that would affect many Filipinos to work in the Middle East who could not find a job in the country.
