In Facebook, Alunan, a bitter critic of the Liberal Party and a staunch defender of the president in the social media wrote:
FIRST KNOCKDOWN – Remove from posts.
SECOND KNOCKDOWN – File criminal charges where warranted.
THIRD KNOCKDOWN – Jail time.
KNOCKOUT – The party’s over, it’s time to call it a day…
Manny Pacquiao moved to remove them from their positions and obtained the votes necessary.
LP leader Senator Franklin Drilon was removed as Senate President Pro Tempore and replaced by Ralph Recto with 17 out of 23 votes.
Health Committee chair Risa Hontiveros was replaced by JV Ejercito.
Agriculture Committee chair Francis Pangilinan was replaced by Cynthia Villar.
Education Committee chair “Bam” Aquino was replaced by “Chiz” Escudero.
Trillanes remains as Minority Floor Leader subject to a reorganization with Drilon, Pangilinan, Hontiveros, Aquino and Delima.
Hard power at play. It was time to deliver the punch.
Meanwhile, netizens also described Senator Pacquiao’s KO punch using superlatives which IMO is very well-deserved.
Ann Esling-Grimes summed up the sentiments of netizens: “And they said Pacquaio is not qualified to be a senator. Boom! And now everyone is stunned by what he is capable of. Good on you Pacquaio!!!!”
Ronald C. Barbaso remarked: “A people champ is always a champ.”
Kit Cojuangco said: “I agree Sir Raffy. Those senators removed from their chairmanships joined the pro-admin majority then destabilize and/or act like a minority? Pacquiao may not be a ‘genius’ but he is ‘acting like a man and with simple leadership’.”
Joey Uy commented: “When the Goliaths met little David, this happens!”
Jose Ruben Reyes commented: “Another classic: a person who did not attend a premier school, has a probinsyano accent (w/c I find nothing wrong but elitists find insulting to their standards kuno) vs the titled, professionals of the LP! David vs goliath! Mwahaha!”
Adrian Pascual joined the adulation party and wrote: “They did not know what hit them. Like a Manny Pacquiao punch. Opps it was the gentleman from Saranggani who made it? Really? Come on? Really? ahaha”
Jason Guilaran wrote: “Funny how people belittle Pacquiao when he ran for senator. But look at how fate favors the good. At the end of the day it only took a “mere” Pacquiao, a NEOPHYTE senator, to dispose all of these LP animals. LOL”
Annalissa Gutierrez said: “hehehe.. pasuntok suntok lang si idol, napuruhan nya pala mga buang sa senado…”
Beng De Vera wrote: “Yan eh!!! Manny Manny Manny is the little big man of the Senate!! Ikaw na, Manny. May God guide you always. And thank you big time.”
Jerome Babate wrote: “They have underestimated Manny. True to his punching form, one motion simply knocked them all from their posts. Manny knew where the right target is.”
Kaising Ginete wrote: “wow! what a move ni sen. pacman. d ko naisip yun ah! hehehe… punches coming at any angle, i never see it coming … anya ni sugar shane…”
