Manila Bulletin writer calls Senator Grace Poe’s business-class MRT coaches suggestion “elitist approach to the traffic situation”

Another pro-Duterte blogger and Manila Bulletin writer Krizette has joined the dissenting voices online versus Senator Grace Poe’s suggestion to add business coaches for MRT as a solution to Metro Manila’s traffic problem.

In a Facebook post, Krizette sounded exasperated with Senator Poe’s suggestion, calling it an “elitist approach to the traffic situation” which she might not even aware of.

Krizette lamented Poe’s line of thinking that people take cars because they don’t want to rub elbows with the ordinary people (Great Unwashed). That explains why Poe makes a moeckery of all the MRT rides and treats it as a spectacle.

Krizette noted that when Poe does takes the MRT, she has a coterie of photographers tagging along. This isn’t the case with Sec. Tugade and the DOTr people who regularly takes the MRT to check if its being operated well without any fanfare.

Krizette reckoned that the MRT is a city train, not the Euro train that crisscrossed continents hence business class is an option.

Krizette mentioned that the NY subway does not have a business coach section, even when you have millionaires and billionaires as loyal patron, even when it is infamous for its rats.

Krizette pointed out to Poe the reason people do not take the train because it is inconvenient for many of us, and the job of the government is to make it convenient–not luxurious, not plush, not elitist.

And convenient means adding more trains so commuters don’t have to waste time lining up, which is tantamount to car traffic–which people with cars would prefer over being stuck in line under the heat of the sun. Good connectivity between station and buildings, and that there are more stations so we don’t have to take multiple trips is another thing that should make trains more attractive to everyone, including the middle-class and even the upper class Filipinos to take a second look at the MRT/LRT.

Krizette ended the FB post expressing with s sense of relief that PRRD won the the goddamn Presidency in 2016 and not Roxas or Poe.

HAY GRACE POE

She may not even realize it, but Grace Poe pitching a business class section for the MRT reveals her elitist approach to the traffic situation. Or you know, generally, this is how she approaches problems.

She thinks people take cars because they don’t want to rub elbows with the Great Unwashed. Which is very probably how she thinks. Which is why she makes a mockery of all these MRT rides and treats it as a spectacle. When she does take MRT, she has photogs with her. Art Tugade and the people of DOTR regularly takes the MRT to check if it’s being operated well without any fanfare.

The MRT is a city train, not the Eurotrail zipping across continents where business class is an option. The NYC subway does not have a business coach section, even when you have millionaires and billionaires alighting at the Wall Street station, and even when it is infamous for its rats.

The reason people do not take the MRT is because it is inconvenient for many of us, and the job of the government is to make it convenient–not luxurious, not plush, not elitist.

Its job is to add more trains so we don’t have to waste time lining up, which is tantamount to car traffic–which we would prefer over being stuck in line under the heat of the sun. It’s job is to make sure there is good connectivity between station and buildings, and that there are more stations so we don’t have to take multiple trips.

For those who can afford to choose their poison, the MRT is not a choice.

Even if you put La Z Boys as chairs in an MRT coach, with a TV boasting a 110 inch HD screen with built in wifi, we still won’t take the MRT if it means the minute we go down the MRT, we’d still be inconvenienced.

Plus, did Grace Poe really want to amplify the already growing resentment of the riding public–while the haves breeze through an express lane and the have nots wait in line with the rest of the hoi polloi?

Is this her vision of the Philippines?

Dear PH, aren’t you glad it was Duterte and not Mar Roxas and Grace Poe who won the goddamn Presidency in 2016?
