Mother of student recruit of Anakbayan writes open letter to Atom Araullo’s mom who called them liars

Relissa Santos Lucena, the mother of a young girl who was recruited by Anakbayan wrote an open letter addressed to the mother of GMA reporter Atom Araullo.

On Facebook, Lucena wrote:

“Para sayo Carol P. Araullo, Ako si Ysay nanay ni Alicia Lucena, miyembro ng Hands off our children at League of Parents of the Philippines simpleng tao lang ang pamilya namin, mahal namin ang bayan.”

Lucena remarked that aside from her love for the country, above all she loved her children who came from womb, from her flesh and blood of her blood.

Lucena assumed Carol Araullo, Atom’s mom, knows what a mother feels like. She gave Carol Araullo an idea where she is coming from.

At this juncture, Lucena’s mood started to turn hostile, telling Carol to stop fooling around and tell his son Atom Araullo, a journalist, to accompany her and meet the parents of the young people who were recruited by the NPA and later k1lled, to say in the faces of members of the League of Parents what she wrote on Facebook.

Lucena said that Carol Araullo knows what it feels to lose a child because she’s also a mother. Lucena stated that Atom is safe unlike the other young people who are in the mountains and in peril. Told Carol not to worry because they will not stop going after the lives of their sons and daughters. Just like Carol who wants a good life for Atom, they also want a good life for their children.

Lucena denied the allegation of Carol Araullo that they are being used by the military and the government because that’s the mandate of the AFP to serve and keep the country safe and its citizens from all forms of threats and violence.

Lucena wrapped up the open letter by informing Carol Araullo what is the government and the AFP for.
