“The most painful thing for parents is to bury their own child.” This is the realization that the parents of the college co-ed from Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu must learn to accept as their little girl was found by her own father James already lifeless and raped yesterday afternoon, September 15, 2015.
The most revolting part is that the victim was raped, strangled by a hair straightener cord that her neck snapped due to the force applied by the suspect. She was also tortured that resulted in a broken leg right at their residence in Corinthians Subdivision, Barangay Suba-Masulog, Lapu-Lapu City.
The rape and murder of the first year accountancy student of the University of San Carlos Cebu shocked the people of Cebu especially from the ranks of the students because of how the young girl died at the hands of the suspect or suspects. An online campaign #JusticeforKarenMontebon is already making the rounds in the social media seeking justice for the Lapu-Lapu lass.
Earlier reports said that the crime occurred around 7-8 AM while the victim was preparing to leave home for her 10 A.M class.
If you’ve been to Cebu, Lapu-Lapu City is where the Cebu Airport is located while Univeristy of San Carlos is located in Cebu City and it is quite far. The young girl’s family left the Montebon’s home earlier than the victim.
According to the autopsy report conducted at the Mactan Doctor’s Hospital, the girl’s sex organ is positive for lacerations, an indication that a rape occurred. Blood was also found on the girl’s undies.
A slipper was found outside their home believed to be owned by the suspect.
Meanwhile, according to P03 Jerson Alparito of the Lapu-Lapu City Police, few valuables were also reported missing such as her DSLR camera and a minipod.
