A 34-year Ozamiz resident reached out to journalist Ira Panganiban after reading the latter’s post slamming the media feeding wrong information to the public.
The letter sender asks Panganiban not to reveal his identity for his personal safety.
According to him, he was not born in Ozamiz but his family migrated to Ozamiz when he was only two years old.
He said as a 34 year old resident of Ozamiz, he has several experiences that should not have happened to him as a law-abiding citizen.
He said he was held up at gun point in front the gate his house and again while having a group study in college inside a carinderia owned by a friend.
The worst came during a community outreach with fellow nursing students when motorcyle-riding men wearing bonnets robbed their group while eating inside a carinderia by the roadside.
But toilet visit together with another classmate spared them from the gun-wielding robbers. They rushed towards the backdoor and hid in the coconut trees behind the carinderia.
He also witnessed a woman getting robbed at gun point while the latter was waiting for a ride home in the highway. The robber took the woman’s cellphone. Before, the robber fled, he fired his gun to intimidate the victim.
He said that crime in Ozamiz is so rampant that people are already used to it. If the victim decides to visit the nearest police station to report the crime, the police gives the victim a tongue-lashing, telling the victim to refrain from using a cellphone when darkness falls.
The joked among Ozamiznons is that the PNP no longer means Philippine National Police but Parojinog National Police.
That is why, people choose to keep their mouths shut. “Pyait must die” is the Parojinog’s law in the streets. If you talk, you die. This is akin to the Mafia-law called ‘OMERTA’.
Last year, a local media man was murdered in broad daylight for speaking up against the Parojinogs. In that same year, the vice mayor of Ozamiz was also murdered under suspicious circumstances.
He laments that the CHR did not bother to investigate the issue against the Parojinogs.

Just read your post about slamming media in feeding wrong infos. Thank you so much for that Sir! I – We ( law abiding Ozamiznons ) really appreciate that.
I was not born here in Ozamiz.. But started living here since 2 yrs. old. – now I’m 36.
With that 34 years living here… marami na rin akong experiences na for a law abiding citizen, hindi dapat mangyari sa akin.
Natutukan na ako ng baril just in front of our gate. Lalaki naka bonnet – declared hold.up
Gabi yon..
Pero mas malala… day time… nung nag Community Outreach – kami… when I was a nursing student, nung nag lunch kami sa Carenderia sa gilid ng National Highway… may mga Motorcycle na huminto at tinutukan ng baril ang mga classmates ko at kinuha mga cellphone nila… buti nalang at galing kami ng CR… sa backdoor.. at nung nalaman namin… takbo agad kami sa niyogan.
Nung nag work na ako… Ganyan po ka lala dito before…. pero… parang.. people get used to it.. kasi.. wala naman mangyayari… before… punta ka police… ikaw pa pagsabihan… dapat wag display cellphone pag naglalakad pag.gabi.. kasi before… mga Police dito… PNP … hindi PNP na Philippine National Police… kung di.. PNP as in Police Ni Parojinog. 😞
Kaya… SILENT KA NALANG .. there’s a tagline na sikat here… ” PYA-IT MUST DIE ” meaning… PAG PUMALAG – PATAY! – Just last year… may Media Man na pinatay sa city…. Morning yon ha… ganun sila katindi… yong dating Vice Mayor namin…. daytime din pinatay…. pero may balita ba? WALA! walang naglakas loob na magreport. WALANG CHR! again.. WALANG CHR!
Kaya…. dati… local media here before are parang… for good publicity lang…. news block-out pag may crimes na ginagawa ang mga P’s ( Stands for Parojinogs )
I have my family here…. And and Dad ko… possibly, kilala nila.. coz he has been a teacher for 3 decades or more sa place near them… kaya… pls. don’t divulge my name if in case mention mo story ko..
So Sir… please help us spread the REAL STORY… kasi pagdating dyan sa National Media… twisted na talaga ang story.
I will send you links sa mga videos – 1st account – sa nangyari dito – sa said joint CIDG-PNP operations… and some articles na magpapatotoo na these narcopoliticians are Satan’s Accomplice in ruining Ozamiz / Misamis Occidental..
Arch Cartin seconded the testimony of the Ozamiz resident. “This totally true sir… hindi ako taga ozamis but nearby city and towns knows who are the parojinog kasi ung ozamis city is the heart of the shabu business in mindanao. Im from iligan city and my city is the trading route of the parojinog’s shabu business…. everybody knows the place called Lawis in ozamis and the Saray of iligan… ive been i ozamis a lot of times coz some of my father’s relatives lives there and some of my classmate lives there as well… kaya alam na alam namin cno ung mga parojinog… well kuratong baleleng is there guys and you can ask president erap estrada bout them as well since they have been a close friend esp when he was still the president… just some little facts bout them… 😬😬😬😬”
Ronz Lopez said he also witnessed a crime while visiting Ozamiz.“Totoo talaga to, daming hold-up dyan. Nakawitness din ako before na biglang kinuha yung cp ng katabi naming table sa kainan, kasi iniwan ng may-ari nang umorder sya. Bilis ng takbo nung lalaki, hindi nakamask, parang wala lang mga magnanakaw dun, di takot magnakaw. Tsk tsk.”
