A post defending why a former General endorses Mayor Duterte for president despite allegations of the latter’s left-leaning tendencies is doing the rounds online.
In a Facebook post shared 362 times and counting as of Friday morning, Gen. Dionisio Santiago, former Chief of PDEA answers the question of his supporters why he is aligning and supporting the candidacy of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte despite allegations that the latter is a coddler of insurgents.
In the post, Gen. Dionisio Santiago simply answered that reaching out to the rebels does not mean Duterte is pampering the rebels like a baby.
(It’s simple. Listening to the qualms of the rebels does not mean Duterte is (pampering them). However, his action is the hallmark of a true leader.
(As the President of the Philippines, you need to listen to the qualms or grievances of the people. Even the opposition. From here, it is easy for the President to tell if he is doing it right in confronting the problems of the country
There are many brilliant members of the CPP and MNLF, some of them are degree holders from notable universities.
(It is not bad to listen to their views/opinions, especially if they possess the knowledge that many of us did not take the time to understand because we already shut down our mind.)
Gen. Santiago argued that these insurgents are also Filipinos. And the military wants peace too.
Disorder means separation from our families and deaths within our ranks. (These so-called insurgents are Filipinos too. And the military, more than anyone else wants peace. Disorder means separation from our families and deaths within our ranks. But, we accept it because we have a sworn duty to uphold.
Sa lahat ng kumakandidato sa pagkapangulo, si Mayor Duterte lang ang very vocal about addressing the issue on peace and order lalo na when it comes to the CPP and MNLF. Only Mayor Duterte has been very vocal about uniting the Philippines. We can’t expect to get a different result if we keep on making the same approach. (Of all the presidential candidates, Duterte is very vocal about addressing the issue on peace and order especially when it comes to the CPP and MNLF. Only Mayor Duterte has been very vocal about uniting the Philippines. Many decades have passed, the past administrations have done nothing…I see nothing wrong in talking to the rebels again. We can’t expect to get a different result if we keep on making the same approach.
Mayor Duterte wants to unite the Filipino people.
Kung pakikipagusap sa mga rebelde ang solusyon, then so be it. I will support him as long as pagkakaisa at kapayapaan ang hangarin niya. ( If talking to the rebel groups is the solution, then so be it. I will support him for the sake of unity and peace if that is his vision.)
Asks for understanding on behalf of military men who share the same views as his
As a former military man, I know that there are politicians and even some officers who sympathize in their own ways with opposing groups. I ask everyone for their open minds and understanding, especially when they have no idea on what really happens on the ground.
<strong>The NPA also follows the Geneva Conventions of War. Not all but some.
To be fair to the NPA, tama si Mayor Duterte, ang iba sa kanila ay sumusunod sa Geneva Convention on War. They treat their prisoners of war with respect and humanity. This is more than I can say compared to some people in the government who continue to oppress fellow Filipinos through corruption. (In fairness to the NPA, Mayor Duterte is right, some of them follows the Geneva Conventions on War. They treat their prisoners of war with respect and humanity. This is more than I can say compared to some people in the government who continue to oppress fellow Filipinos through corruption.)
Duterte is not only charismatic but has a genuine concern for the country and the Filipino people.
(I’ve said this on several occassions but everytime I am in the company of Mayor Duterte during campaign sorties, I’ve found out he is more than a charismatic leader. He is real and I see in him a genuine concern for the country and the people. He feels anger, dismay and sadness for the plight of the nation and that is his strength. A leader who knows is different from a leader who understands. Moreso, a leaders who says he will fix things is different from a leader who already started to act.
