“President Duterte is the “Philippines’ founding father” — Netizen blogger’s fearless statement on PRRD. Do you agree?

I don’t know what was this DDS blogger and Manila Bulletin writer Krizette Chu had for breakfast but she thinks President Duterte is the Philippines founding father?

Wait, before you quickly dismiss and start bashing Ms. Krizette for holding that opinion knowing she’s a huge Duterte supporter, let us hear out Krizette first.

BTW, Krizette thinks PH does not have a founding father because when the country was founded by the heroes of the Philippine revolution against Spain, its because our independence was “granted” to us—hence many of our colonizers’ laws were passed down to us—instead of our forefathers sitting down to craft the things that would really create the “birth of a nation.”

She also thinks the Cory Constitution is a joke, crafted in the mood of the time, reactive to the ills of Marcos more than becoming the guiding post that our country can use to develop itself (change the Constitution!)

Anyway, before your blood pressure shoots up to epic proportion, Krizette believed that PRRD could be the country’s founding father of modern Philippines.

Take note of the word “modern”, okay?

In my own understanding, Ms. Krizette isn’t taking away the credit from the original founding fathers of the Philippines.

In addition, if you read carefully Krizette’s choice of words, that title of PRRD will only apply if he managed to rewrite the Cory Constitution that would really benefit the PH and make it ready for the world stage, he is truly going to be the country’s founding father.

So there you go. Hope you are satisfied with Krizette’s explanation.

DUTERTE IS OUR COUNTRY’S FOUNDING FATHER

When I got pseudo obsessed with Hamilton, the musical, I remember wondering why we, the PH, didn’t have founding fathers, unlike the US.

Maybe it is because independence was “granted” to us—hence many of our colonizers’ laws were passed down to us—instead of our forefathers sitting down to craft the things that would really create the “birth of a nation.” And then, our Cory Constitution is a joke, crafted in the mood of the time, reactive to the ills of Marcos more than becoming the guiding post that our country can use to develop itself (change the Constitution!)

And then it struck me last night, while I was replaying the SONA in my head (and wondering how many times Duterte’s speech was interrupted by applause—would anyone know, and yes I am weird like that), that DUTERTE IS OUR FOUNDING FATHER

The US had Hamilton (and the others, “others” lol), SG has Lee Kuan Yew, South Africa had Nelson Mandela, and we, we have Rodrigo Duterte and his men who will be the prime architects of a truly sovereign nation.

Rodrigo Duterte, Art Tugade, Mark Villar, Sonny Dominguez, Ramon Lopez—these men are the architects of the modern Philippines and have three more years to cement their place in Philippine history as the founding fathers. And when Duterte and his people rewrite the Constitution that would really benefit the PH and make it ready for the world stage, he is truly going to be the country’s founding father.

And in the future, in history books, we will start referring to Duterte as a founding father. And then there’s going to be a Duterte the Musical, but it’s R 18 because it’s all cursing and lewd jokes, and then I’m going to write the rap part.

“How does a jologs promdi,
Son of a Yellow
Ruled in the middle of a forgotten spot
In Mindanao
By providence, raised in squalor…
Grew up to be a hero and a scholar
The 2000 peso
Founding father, the country’s father.”

Duterte the Musical.

Mga ganon.
