Radio host makes strong argument why “Land of Covid” tag of Philippines isn’t so embarrassing at all!

In a Facebook post with the title, “LAND OF COVID”, radio host Mark Lopez explained why there is nothing to be ashamed of with such unflattering moniker.

Lopez informed netizens the new spin of the critics of the Duterte administration, using our covid situation as the anchor of attack to put down the government at the expense of the country’s reputation.

‘So the propaganda being spread now is that we have become the Land of Covid-19.’

‘Nakakahiya ba?’ Lopez asked netizens.

Lopez remarked that this phenomenon is expected.

‘It actually took a long time coming, and now here we are, the number one in Southeast Asia with the most number of Covid-19 cases.’

Lopez said his gut instinct tells him that our OFW phenomenon spread around the globe would be forced to return home by the pandemic.

‘Am no epidemiologist nor viral expert but what I do know is that the Filipino is the Global workforce, most especially in the labor and public health sector.’

‘Globally ha.’

Lopez said the exodus of the OFWs from their respective hosts has been one of the more complex issues, especially the monumental task of bringing them home.

‘It is why one of the more complex issues that have risen in this pandemic is how our government should address the repatriation of hundreds of thousands of our OFWs in the middle of this crisis.’

Lopez asked.

Lopez said thee figures are a mixed of land-based and sea-based OFWs who were affected by the pandemic.

‘And these are our kababayans who were caught in the midst of the outbreak in the countries where they are working.

Lopez asked if we were aware that at one point, there were 20 cruise ships anchored in Manila Bay and 3,000 to 5,000 people on board those ships but unable to disembark because of the sheer volume wanting to enter the country?

‘And alam nyo ba na at one point eh meron halos 20 na CRUISE SHIPS na nanjan sa Manila Bay, na may laman na 3,000 to 5,000 na mga tao on board na hindi maka daong because of the sheer volume na papasok sa atin?’

Lopez asked Filipinos if they can wrap their heads around the magnitude of the problem the Duterte admin faces re OFWs?

‘Do you even understand the magnitude of what our government is confronted with this issue?’

If the gargantuan problem of the OFW exodus confronting the Duterte wasn’t enough, the so-called LSI’s compounded the woes of the government. Lopez explained below.

‘And ano pa nangyari?

‘LAHAT SAGOT NG GOBYERNO,’ Lopez stated.

Lopez asked in an emphatic tone, ‘Hindi ba yan recipe for a humongous humanitarian crisis?’

Lopez can’t help but play the conscience card to drive home his point that critics are so blinded with their hatred for the Duterte admin that they fail to see how hard this government worked and face the challenges head on while throwing caution to the wind and disregarding their own safety?

Do you know how difficult it is, especially for the behind-the-scenes government workers natin na hindi na ininda ang posibilidad na silaay mahawa at buong puso na hinarap yang mga needs ng kababayan natin.’

Lopez quizzed netizens if they are aware of another possible reason why the country has been tagged as such? ‘Alam nyo pa ang isang maaring rason bakit tayo ang Land of Covid?’

lopez supplied the answer of his own question here.

Lopez asked if this fact does not make their hairs rise by simply thinking about it?

Lopez urged netizens to contemplate at the huge risk our health care workers serving in foreign countries have to face.

‘Imagine their risk, and how they can also affect their own loved ones, kasama na ung mga iniwan tapos binalikan nilang pamilya dito?’

Lopez warned critics not to get him started but he did it anyway. Lol

‘And dont get me started sa mga frontliners natin, sa health, sa security, sa mga construction workers, BPOs, retail staff sa mga supermarkets, drugstores, airline, and yung mga namobilize ng gobyerno para magtayo ng mga quarantine facilities, laboratories, at yung mga kailangan din mag ayos ng mga kargamento sa mga pier, and mga deliveries.’

Lopez went on to offer his theory why our covid cases has been on the rise but he credited the Filipinos who stepped up and help the government to carry the load of the critics, the whiners, ready to take care of them when they catches covid 19.

Lopez can’t help but took a swipe at a Senator whom he accused of partly responsible for the deplorable PH health care system for doing nothing in improving it, instead use it as a milking cow?

Lopez wondered if netizens aren’t infuriated that the previous admins did not prepare for this eventuality, that a pandemic might hit the country, hence the response of the current admin is to make do of what we have and improve along the way?

‘Hindi nga, hindi ba kayo manggagalaiti sa galit na hindi pinaghandaan noon pa ang possibility na tayo ay madale nga ng isang pandemic kaya ang response ng kasalukuyang gobyerno eh to make do with what we have and improve along the way?’

Lopez proceeded to cite an example to back up his earlier assertion.

‘Case in point – WALA TAYONG SARILING RT PCR laboratory, at nung February and early March, sa Australia pa natin pinapadala ang swab test samples para ma confirm kung positive ang case.’

Lopez frowned at shameless Leni Robredo talking to the press, saying we should have done this and that when you think about it, her party mates in the senate who has been in position for a long time but failed to pass a bill to strengthen our healthcare system and prepare for a pandemic?

Lopez noted that despite the incessant criticism – left, right, front, back and center – in 5 months managed to put up more than 100 quarantine facilities, 100 plus labs for RT PCT testing and conducted more than 1.6 millions tests and counting.

Lopez asked if those living in the fringes of society were left behind? He took a jab at critics of the Social Amelioration Program but he said they can’t deny the fact these aid managed to reach many of our countrymen. And if there were allegations of corruption or irregularities at the LGU level, he said that the blame should fall on the previous leaders who were the stumbling blocks of the reforms that were pushed.

Lopez shared the testimony of her ex-housemaid to back up his assertion that the Duterte admin’s SAP did reach the intended recipients.

Lopez lamented that Duterte’s critics still refuse to accept this as a fact and give space in their hearts the hate they have for Duterte because he does fit their image of the ideal President and of course many of them are simply bitter because their rackets and money-making schemes in the previous admins ended when Duterte came to power.

‘Land of Covid ba?’ Lopez taunted.

Lopez ended the long rant with a parting message to the critics.

‘Sige, ikahiya nyo ang bansa nyo. Palibhasa, puro kayo ipokrito.’
