Robredo’s Germany trip and privately funded claim draws jeers and laughs from La Salle historian: “Walang libre sa mundong ito! Mga Ulol”

Leni Robredo’s camp says the work study program to Germany was privately-funded at no cost to the government.

If you’d recall, US-based blogger Edwin Jamora made a ruckus out of the Berlin trip of Robredo and Liberal Partymates on Facebook, accusing the group of wasting taxpayer’s money.

Jamora’s allegation elicited a quick response from Robredo’s camp, calling the US-based blogger’s allegation “fake news”.

If the Robredo camp thought the storm surrounding the Germany trip re financing was over, here comes the second round of criticism, courtesy of historian Van Ybiernas from the De La Salle University.

On Facebook, Ybiernas curses and jeers at Robredo and Liberal Party mates’ defense over allegations that their Germany trip was funded by taxpayer’s money.

Obviously amused at Robredo’s camp for coming out with a non-well thought-out response to the criticism, Ybiernas can’t help but calls them “ulol” or crazy if you will in English.

Ybiernas remarked that there is no such thing as free lunch, in reference to Robredo’s camp claim that no government money was used in Germany trip but privately funded.

Ybiernas compared this to a student who gives a gift to earn the good side of the teacher.

In short, Ybiernas asserts, the giver expects something in the future.

Before ending his post, Ybiernas recalled how PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa was crucified on social media by Liberal party supporters for accepting a free trip to Las Vegas from Manny Pacquiao but these same people have been silent on the Robredo controversy.

Ybiernas also reminded VP Robredo and her friends of the law prohibiting public officials from receiving gifts from private parties.

Pota! There is no such thing as a free lunch in this woŕld.
