While government forces are fighting Maute militants in Marawi, the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters attacked an Army detachment in Maguindanao recently.
According to the news website Kicker Daily News, members of the BIFF attacked an Army outpost in Mamasapano, Maguindanao in the early morning of June 4, 2017.
The government forces suffered a lone casualty but his identity has been withheld pending notification of the family.
Capt. Arvin Encinas, spokesman of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division said that an undetermined number of Islamic extremists launched a lightning offensive against the 40th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Tukanalipao, in Mamasapano. Recovered from the encounter scene were four caliber 45 pistols, one 9mm caliber pistol, an improvised explosive device, magazines and ammunition and other war materials allegedly belonging to the attacking BIFF militants.
In light of this, former DILG Secretary Rafael Alunan III shared his valuable reading of the developments in Mindanao.
“There are various attacks being waged in Mindanao. Probably designed to dissipate and pin down our forces. I don’t think Marawi is the main effort either. It’s all a prelude to the climax. Parang heavy foreplay pa lang. Someone’s trying to screw us real good so I might as well speak in those terms.”
Meanwhile, the social media have their interpretation of the developments in Mindanao and let us read the comments below.
Cocoy Bagunu said: “more likely a US proxy war vs Duterte.. we should look into that angle as well….”
Maria Monina Gustilo Meyer commented: “For those claiming that it’s a proxy war by the US, it’s not under the Trump administration but the, shadow government of Obama under George Soros the globalist that finance the rallies and pays the mainstream media to undermine both Presidents Trump and Duterte Administration. Wake up people!”
John Simon Yap wrote: “That’s why we need our own protection instead we have to rely on the state to know exactly when to pull out..and reallocate assets to just the right spot. That’s really dangerous. Always practice safety.”
Louie Alarcon Casumpang remarked: “Sir Raffy We need Loose FireArms amnesty. Pumasok at nahuli dito sa Davao ang isa sa mga Lider ng Maute at 3 kasamahan nito, im both from Gensan and Davao…di kami natatakot, pero we also need to Arm!”
