We, Filipinos, are known for our indomitable spirit and resiliency in times of adversity.
But here’s another Filipino trait admired the world over and that is our ability to smile in the face of tragedy or natural calamities.
This has been demonstrated once again amongst our Bicolano “kababayans” amidst the threat of a major explosion of Mayon Volcano.
If you’ve been following the news lately, Mayon Volcano has been bombarding Albay residents with black thick ash, making the lives of residents residing under the shadow of the erupting volcano miserable.
Despite the doom and gloom scenario in Bicol, a video starring a resident named “Super Nak” attempting to stop the volcanic ash from advancing into his village using an electric fan has been making a buzz on social media.
The video was posted by Gary Bañaga on Facebook on January 22, 2018 afternoon, not knowing the video will generate enough interest in social media.
On Facebook Bañaga writes:
Lalaking nag tangkang pigilan ang abo ng Mayon noon sinubukan ulit ngaun gamit ang kakaibang kapangyarihan.
However, the video has been a hit, getting more than half-a-million views, 10, 972 shares and more than 13,000 reactions on Facebook.
