As Filipinos celebrate Christmas day, vice mayor Paolo Duterte of Davao City made an announcement that caught the public by surprise.
According to the letter released by the vice mayor’s camp, the younger Duterte tendered his resignation effective today because of personal reasons.
In the resignation letter, Paolo Duterte opened by extending his deep sympathies to the families who lost a loved one in the recent tragedies that struck Davao City.
He hinted that this Christmas day has been the most difficult and blamed his failed first marriage as the main culprit.
He also mentioned the BOC scandal and shabu smuggling issues and the public squabble with daughter Isabelle as the other factors of his doom and gloom Christmas.
VM Duterte remarked that while growing up his parents inculcated them the value of ‘delicadeza’ and there is no better time than today to apply what his parents taught him to protect his honor and his children.
Meanwhile, let us round up the reaction of netizens in social media to the news of Paolo Duterte’s resignation. Many lauded the younger Duterte for doing something so rare among Filipino politicians. Some doubted the authenticity of the letter.
This is the most ‘with delicadeza’ thing he has done. Something of his father and mother’s integrity shining through. Dili hangol sa pwesto.
James Carlo Balagtas:
I salute this man👍such a great move unlike other politicians there kahit nasa kulungan na dada pa ng dada😂😂😂👊👊👊👊
Walang seal ng city of davao..walang pirma ng taong magresign…IS THIS TRUE??
Wweeeee…. Pauso!… Eh wala nga signature nya… Maniwala ako jan….hindi ganyan ja bobo si vice…hahaha..
