No wonder Willie Revillame has been all smiles lately due to the good performance of Wowowin in the latest survey, according to Kantar Media-TNS Nationwide Ratings (October 1-7, 2015). The survey showed that Wowowin received (17.2%) compared to ASAP 2.0’s 15.7%.
However, in a report filed by Rey G. Panaligan of Manila Bulletin, Willie Revillame’s streak of good luck lately is dampened by the Court Appeals decision affirming the Quezon City regional trial court (RTC) order of the filing of a criminal case and the arrest of television host Willie Revillame on charges of child abuse and exploitation.
In a decision penned by Associate Justice Ma. Luisa Quijano-Padilla, the CA ruled in favor of RTC Judge Roberto Buenaventura that it did not abuse its authority when it issued an arrest order for the plaintiff on Oct. 4, 2013.
The case stemmed from the controversy filed by DSWD Revillame for violation of Republic Act No. 7610, known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act against the popular host and philanthropist in regards to the viral video of a boy who was dancing as if he was male strip dancer in a club.
The controversial segment aired on TV 5 on March 12, 2011 while the TV host was still connected with the said TV station as a block timer.
Many people reacted angrily and condemned the TV host for encouraging such behavior on a popular such as “Willing Willie” that was hugely popular among all ages including young children and adults alike.
The CA ruling said, “As there is probable cause for the petitioner’s (Revillame) commission of a crime, his arrest and arraignment should now ensue so that this case may properly proceed to trial, where the merits of both parties’ evidence and allegations may be weighed.”
No reaction yet from the camp of the popular TV host as of this writing.
