For decades, Filipinos have been leaving to seek greener pastures abroad, and as a result, the Philippines have suffered the so-called “brain drain”.
In 2015, ABS-CBN News published an article titled, “How Philippines can reverse ‘brain drain”, the article author’s frustration seems palpable at the very beginning.
However, in the same article, ABS-CBN says there is hope for reversing the phenomenon and that is if the Philippines as per Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is concerned, the country spends on infrastructure projects.
“A focus on this area over the next year, made possible partly by strong public finances, should enable the islands to pursue a raft of infrastructure projects,” ICAEW said.
Remember this article was published in 2015. Who was the President then?
As per ABS-CBN article, “the Public–Private Partnership Center has already 26 approved infrastructure projects, collectively worth $24.5 billion.”
Thanks God PRRD won the 2016 election and looks like ICAEW’s prediction in 2015 is slowly turning into a reality.
First, government infrastructure projects are the catalyst to bringing home our OFWs.
Second, big ticket infrastructure projects like the Manila Subway Project and many others in the pipeline will reverse the Philippine “brain drain” phenomenon.
Speaking of the Manila Subway Projects, OFWs received the good news with joy and excitement that finally, a huge infrastructure project like this is no longer just a dream but a reality.
In excitement, OFWs working in Qatar’s subway project have expressed their desire to help the government by lending their expertise and come home.
Well, this is exactly what radio host and blogger Mark Lopez wrote about in his latest blog post wherein he talked about “Bayanihan”.
In the Facebook post, Lopez asked DOTr Secretary a huge favor to bring the OFW’s home and let them take part in the biggest bayanihan the country has ever seen.
Lopez was so inspired after reading the comments of OFWs and their photos to show that they are indeed legitimate experts in operating tunnel boring machines or in the subway train projects and took to Facebook to call the attention of DOTr Secretary Art Tugade re OFW’s wishing to work for the Manila Subway Project.
Lopez cited Deo Miranda, Israel Banwa Aplod, at YeYe Banaag as just one of the OFWs willing to go home and take part in a historic project like the Manila Subway Project even if they are going to earn less than what they are getting abroad out of love of country.
Lopez recalled PRRD’s wish to bring home all the OFWs under his Presidency and help grow the country together towards prosperity and progress.

Ano kaya Sir Art?
Bring them home for Build Build Build…
