“Ang bobo ng anti-Marcos, in fairness.” — Ex-DLSU History professor trolls anti-Marcos anti-Martial law camp

Former Dela Salle History Professor is at again. He just trolled the anti-Marcos camp, calling them “bobo” or dumb if you prefer it in English.

Ang bobo ng anti-Marcos, in fairness.

Ybiernas noted that the anti-Marcos wants to diminish the Marcoses but its them who also said the Marcoses are getting stronger and stronger.

For example, the haters of the Marcoses mobilized anti-Marcos sentiment and then hope that the anti-Marcos sentiment will have a life of its own.

Ybiernas called this strategy dumb because anti-anything is hard to sustain. He said it is easier if you are pro-something.

Given you hate Marcos but the sentiment of the Filipino on that issue is: if we are going to be anti-Marcos, what pro-something are we suppose to be?

Ybiernas remarked that studying history is getting blamed for the ever growing popularity of Marcos when every year, the EDSA (People Power) is celebrated.

Ybiernas called the people proposing of introduction of Martial Law education in our schools “dumb”. According to him, this could backfire and just make the Marcoses even more popular because the issues raised against them regarding ML (martial law) are human rights violations and corruption/plunder.

Kailangan pa daw may Martial Law education. E bobo talaga!

Ybiernas warned that data will come out in broad daylight- which cannot be denied – that overall, the communist who attempted to bring down the Marcos administration or their sympathizers were the victims. And in the public’s mind – he said he was clueless how did this happen- the communists are pests in the country.

Ybiernas agreed that the issue of plunder against the Marcoses are strong. However, when Martial Law was put under scrutiny, it was found out that the infrastructure projects of the Marcoses are still standing until now. The problem, Ybiernas remarked, people can’t help but compare them with the Aquinos who did nothing while in power.

If the anti-Marcos keeps repeating the allegation that the Marcoses are thieves, the public will simply respond: Who among the politicians who aren’t?

Once again, the conversation will come in full circle and the public will talk about accomplishments, not the issue corruption itself.

That is the existing narrative, Ybiernas declared. And the anti-Marcos has not solved this conundrum.

Iyan ang existing narrative. Hindi pa yan nasosolb ng mga anti-Marcos.

And the dumbest of
