British Embassy Manila’s photo with Maria Ressa draws backlash among DDS bloggers, supporters, calls photo provocative & British insult to PH gov’t!

Radio personality and DDS blogger Mark Lopez was furious of the photo of the British Embassy Manila with Maria Ressa and strongly condemned it in a Facebook post.

Lopez remarked the photo was an insult to the Filipino sensitivity, called it provocative and insensitive act of the British Embassy Manila.

Lopez was enraged that the British government was supporting someone like Maria Ressa “who is widely acknowledged as someone who is deeply engaged in acts and actuations that are inimical to the national interest of the Philippines.”

Lopez said the British government can hide or disguise this affront to our government as nothing more than simply supporting the ideals of press freedom and free speech but Lopez said we know better.

Lopez said the PH government is perhaps too kind and would not take issue with this offensive display of support for an indicted tax evader because it is being careful and considerate, even as it is unfairly portrayed by Ms Ressa as an oppressive and dictatorial regime, for all the world to hear, see and read.

But as a Filipino, he is enraged by this calumny and I strongly condemn this insensitive act by the British Embassy.

BRITISH BULLSHIT

As a Filipino, I am deeply offended by this public endorsement of the United Kingdom of Maria Ressa.

This British Embassy Manila post may naively look like a manifestation of support for the democratic principle of freedom of expression and speech.

But we know better.

The principal character they are endorsing is widely acknowledged as someone who is deeply engaged in acts and actuations that are inimical to the national interest of the Philippines.

And we are certain that the British government is fully aware of this, even as they can hide or disguise this affront to our government as nothing more than simply supporting the ideals of press freedom and free speech.

Perhaps my government is too kind and too tolerant to allow or let this provocation slide.

Maybe my government would not take issue with this offensive display of support for an indicted tax evader because it is being careful and considerate, even as it is unfairly portrayed by Ms Ressa as an oppressive and dictatorial regime, for all the world to hear, see and read.

But I am a Filipino enraged by this calumny and I strongly condemn this insensitive act by the British Embassy.

The Philippines does not deserve this.
