A new video showing Mayor Rodrigo Duterte exhorts supporters to make a sacrifice by embarking on a transformation from within before he or she can consider worthy of one’s country.
The new campaign video of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte surfaced on the Facebook Page Disiplina Duterte today, January 11th, 2016 and has quickly receive more than 14,000 views two hours after it was uploaded.
In the video, Mayor Duterte opened his address by asking the viewers, “Is it going to be another 6 years of crime, drugs, continuing poverty and corruption?”
“Or do we once and for all fix our country so that coming generations will have a future?” Mayor Duterte asked his viewers. “The clock is ticking. The transformation must begin now. It is time to decide if you and I will make the sacrifice needed and transforms ourselves so we will be worthy of our country.”
In the video, presidential aspirant Rodrigo Duterte revealed that the shift from being a local leader to an aspiring national leader is in itself a big personal sacrifice on his part. “I am being given the chance by God to participate in the presidential challenge, which I first hesitated to accept, but have fully embraced.”
“The transformation must start with me. From a local leader, I have to become a national leader worthy of your respect and trust,’ Duterte admitted. “I also have to become a leader that the world will respect as our country is a member of a community of nations and even if we do change our country, we still need to co-exist with other nations to sustain growth.”
In the video, Mayor Duterte reiterated his economic platforms of governance such as:
1. Less crime and drug-free society where citizens police themselves.
2. Reduce the cost of food by up to 50% by eliminating unscrupulous middle men and 5/6 loan sharks and mustering government resources to build infrastructures for the delivery of food to lessen spoilage.
3. Jobs creation by industrialization. This is achieved by building the steel industry he said that will spawn factories and create jobs. He also plans to build ‘business islands’ where multinationals can create their own business haven and govern themselves and build to fit their needs. If we can lease our land for military bases, then there is stopping us to lease an island – to create our version of Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore right here in our own country. The jobs will come here and going to work abroad is a choice, not a necessity, Mayor Duterte added.
4. Education. Promise to build more classrooms and raise the salary of public school teachers and double the shifts of the classes; teachers will do classes using large screen TV’s. The government-owned stations and the classrooms will teach values of honesty, hard work, respect for the law and above all, dignity and pride as Filipinos.
Why? Mayor Duterte believes that, “It is only with spiritual growth that we can sustain material growth.”
The Mayor then declared that with existing limitations of our government structure, he has done many of the things he mentioned above. “With your help, we can do this nationwide,” Duterte told the viewers.
“The drug lords will try to kill me. The crooked rich businessmen and corrupt elements will spend big money to prevent me from changing the order of things. Our country needs an overhaul,” Mayor Duterte warned the viewers. “Let us join hand in hand. I will not back down if you are all behind me.”
“Act now. talk to your family and relatives, and your friends,” Mayor Duterte appeals to the viewers and supporters. “This is the sacrifice you must make – spread the word the revolution to change the present order of things is coming.”
Towards the end of Mayor Duterte’s speech, he enjoins his supporters to make their own campaign materials like posters, campaign t-shirts, tarps and billboards.
Make your own posters, print your own t-shirts, build your billboards because I will not accept money for my campaign from those who want to buy my principles.
In parting, Mayor Duterte announced to the whole world and the people benefiting from the largess of corruption. “This country is no longer for sale – everyone must undergo a transformation. Duterte Let us join hand in hand and wallop them.”
