To give readers an idea on how the challenge was constructed by the netizen, please read the post below in full:
To my FB friends who support Grace Poe, please explain to me why people should vote for her.
Her own husband is a natural born American and he cannot even vote for his own wife this coming May. Her children according to her will remain American citizens.
As senator, the number of bills she filed which became law is none. Big fat zero.
Her other public service experience was at MTRCB which consisted of watching movies and classifying them as PG or GP or R.
So tell me why people should vote for Grace? Give me a very good reason aside from her being the adopted daughter of FPJ.
In response to the challenge of the netizen, Gab Valenciano took it upon himself to defend Senator Poe from online bashers because she consider her as a personal friend.
Gab Valenciano said most of our past leaders had proven “track record” to back them up but look where it led us.
Majority of our past leaders were all legally and politically eligible to run for president. Not all, most. Many with the “track record” to prove it. And in the end, screwed us all over with their hidden agendas and shameful corruption (captain obvious I know).
Gab Valenciano wrote that our country needs more just experience to get back on its feet, someone with pure intention and that someone he said is none other than Grace Poe.
Obviously, at this point, this country needs more than just “experience” to get back on its feet. It needs a good, strong and pure heart. Presidents, alone, do not make a country. That’s the problem with society. We rely so much on the head when we, the body, hardly do our part.
Gab Valenciano provided the justification why he is defending Grace Poe and some more by turning the table around on Poe’s critic by giving him a lecture on dual citizenship, on globalization and wrote this:
Sen. Grace is my friend above anything. And I defend my friends. So what if her husband is an American citizen. So what if her kids are keeping their American citizenship. Get with the times. There is something called dual-citizenship. People who are well travelled and have spent time away from their hometown could have gained more insight, could have gained an understanding of what it means to advance any kind of system beyond the “Filipino way.” Our political system is rotten to its core, and the whole world knows this. A true Filipino is Filipino by blood, not by paper. People move countries to expand their way of life, not relinquish their homeland. She purely and sincerely wants what’s best for our country and will do anything and everything to serve with the best of her ability, no strings or bs attached. That’s what I admire most about her. We Filipino’s are so freaking fickle. We lambast and rebuke her yet have the balls to support someone who goes against a Filipino’s moral code. It’s an outrageous double standard that is so hypocritical, it’s sickening. Let’s disqualify the “inexperienced” candidate who doesn’t meet the requirements of residency and continue glorifying the corrupt, unscrupulous and indecent. Also, let’s allow an impeached president, who caused a freaking revolution, to run and govern our beloved capital. Really. Cmon now. This is the Philippines today.
The US-based celebrity and son of Mr. Energy Gary Valenciano clarified the post is neither personal nor a paid rant. He explained the issue isn’t about who you want to vote for but Vote for who YOU personally believe in.
Willy, this is not a personal post. I am
Just tired of this political bullcrap. This is my personal opinion on the matter and nobody needs to agree with me. Again, I know Sen. Grace personally and I believe in her. Months ago, I didn’t have a candidate as I didn’t want to get involved. Politics is a very tricky sector for me. But I’ve just about had enough of this. She deserves to be a front runner. She doesn’t deserve the hate she’s been getting from so many Filipino’s.
And lastly, this is NOT a paid rant. People can and will never be able to purchase my vote. I believe in what I choose to believe in. There is no price you can tag on that. I am just sick and tired of seeing stones thrown at her and quite frankly, it’s just downright shameful. I stand up for what is right. So this is just me, standing up not just for a candidate, but for a friend.
My issue here isn’t about who you want to vote for. Vote for who YOU personally believe in. That’s fine. But do not use these technicalities to question someone’s ability or inability to lead.

Dear Willy Ramasola,I do not know who you are so I cannot comment based on your character and personality, instead, I…

What say you on this post?
Just only that, you will only say that she is good and have good heart. How would you know a person having a good heart since we knew her Grace poe just recently. How would you know that she’s good since she haven’t prove anything from herself during her short period of time as a senator or even during her being chairman of MTCRB and now she’s running for the highest post as a president. She don’t even know our Philippine Laws, our Constitution, even the problem of our country the Philippines, do you think its dangerous. The problem of extremist, leftist, Muslim people in Mindanao, the things that surround us drugs, crime rates traffic, etc As if zero knowledge those problems that should undertake first. You Gab Valenciano even you, don’t think you know anything whats going to our country and even Grace Trapoe mentality. This is not a popularity contest or entertainment even those innocent people was carried on your stupidity and wrong person to support with in terms of leadership to choose the right person to lead our country.
This is BULLSHIT Gab… You are not even here living in the country… If you have personal opinions, just keep it to yourself… We don’t DAMN CARE about you and your opinion… We, people living here has the RIGHT to decern who are we going to vote simply because we are here and you are not… Who are you to say that you are tired of Phil Politics? You are living in comfort there in US and we are here in Mindanao suffering not only insurgency/leftist but also the scarcity of financial support from the government for our own development… We hope it’s clear to you that what we want you to do is to simply ‘SHUT UP’… God bless Gab… Much better that you keep ‘quiet’ like your parents… MORE TALK MORE MISTAKE…

“You are not even here living in the country”
– May I remind you that 10% of Filipinos live abroad, and that their remittance is the main driver of the economy of the country where you are living. If we insist that “they are not even living” here, why the need to do overseas absentee voting?
If you have personal opinion, just keep it to yourself.
– Opinions are always personal. If we should keep our opinions to ourselves, then we should not have Opinions pages in our broadsheets.
We don’t DAMN care about you and your opinion.
– I think Mr. Valenciano did not ask us to care about his opinion.
We, people living here has the right to “decern” who “are we” going to vote simply because we are here and you are not.
– Again, the main driver of growth in the country where you are living are the remittance of Filipinos abroad. It is unfair I think to tell them that they do not have a say on who should lead us, simply because they are also Filipinos. By the way, I agree that he has no right to tell you who to vote, but if you read his post, he is not insisting us to vote for his preferred candidate, he is just defending her.
Who are you to say that you are tired of PH politics? You are living in the comfort of US and we are here suffering the insurgency/leftist but also the scarcity of financial support from the government for our own development.
– Hopefully you are aware how “comfortable” our OFWs abroad are. I hope you worked abroad in the past because you have the guts to say that being in the US (or abroad) is “comfortable”. About your suffering, I agree that those are happening, but what are you doing? Are you just tolerating it? The advantage of being abroad at least a part of your life is that you have a broader perspective on what is better and what is missing in our country.
SHUT UP Gab! More talk, more mistake.
– He is just airing his opinion. Mistake is subjective; it may be wrong for you, but may be correct to others. And asking people with different views to shut up will only limit your perspective. It’s actually better to hear the opinion of the other side so you can validate your personal stand and be more confident in defending your stand.
Let’s have an open-minded discussion. God bless.
Just want to ask gab valenciano, and i want his honest answer..Do you think it is enough na garce poe has the heart and will for the pilipino pipol..and d na kailangan ang ung mga nagawang mga achievement and experience na kailangan sa pagiging presidente..let’s face it wala sya masyadong experience and achievements to back her up..now, back to my tanong..It is enough kung heart and will lang meron sya sa pagtakbo ng pagka presidente?
Who is Gab by the way? I knew his father, but he himself is just nothing. We have our own rights of suffrage and to suffer consequences inthe future. Thats his will to choose. He is ordinary person only. Soar high Duterte for a CHANGE.
Ok, let’s say na she has the heart na gusto nya tulungan ang pilipinas..the problem is d sapat ung heart-heart na yan…pag napasok ni grace ang pagka presidente sigurado lalamunin sya ng ruling system ng politika bcoz of her inexperience..gab, ung comment mo, comment yan ng pang kaibigan puro emotions and feelings ginagamit…cgurado ko para ka ring si grace d nakatikim ng kahirapan eh, tapos sasabihin nyo na may puso kayo sa bayan…ni hindi ko nga sya narinig ano gagawin nya para maalis kahirapan puro na lng gagawa ng infrastracture, bibgyan ng etc. etc…at least si duterte sinabi nya ano gagawin nya and may time frame..so, gab pleaaaaaaaase do your dad a favor…shut up!
just goes to show why you are so biased… it’s because she is your friend… and true, friends defend each other.. and unfortunate that we are not, and quite frankly, I think that puts us in a better position to give more objective views rather than yours!!! All you say is we have bullshit politics and I absolutely agree with you. But do you think she is the solution to all these? She claims, just like you do that she has clean intentions and sincerity, but are these enough to put her on the highest position in the land? Again your judgment is biased BECAUSE SHE IS YOUR FRIEND, and quite frankly, I don’t expect a fair answer from you.
To Gab Valenciano:
Firstly, there is no word in any freaking dictionary that says “agendas” as you wrote in your glorified comment. The word “agenda” is the plural form of “agendum”.
Now I have second thoughts on taking showbiz brains seriously after you publicised your shameful grammatically-incorrect sentence construction. If I were you, just work on how you resurrect your so-called “failed-to-launch-showbiz” career. Your social media mileage is just making you lousy clown who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Two words Gab, “get lost”!
I have nothing against Grace Poe. But every inch of my being Natural Born Filipino Citizen, being born prior to 1987 Constitution with Filipino mother and father which I can prove even by DNA, and who need not to perform any act to perfect my citizenship and to which requires no Supreme Court to affirm it, with all my strong patriotism and nationalism, true citizen who is willing to kill and to die for it tells me otherwise. We are looking for a leader as an excuse for our inaction, yet if we want change, why we always always support people that prevents change. We look for a leader yet we are the power. We are the creators of nations and government, us, not them. Yet we are prepared to sell our identity and our self existence for our inaction? Do we deserve this nation that you throw away? The main issue of Grace Poe citizenship is not merely qualification, this decision will not affect her alone or change her alone but the people of this entire nation. Every person with questionable loyalty to this country that fits her feature can govern it – what saddened me is the fact that you all don’t realize – it is not only justice that has been sold, it is not only Poe, it is the entire Filipino people who is sold. Thanks to the Supreme Court you just killed a nation.
I can’t for the life of me, think of Grace Poe as pro-poor; she and her partner have made promises to put up programs for the poor if i remember right. I can’t imagine what “laban” of her adopted father she will continue if elected president. I haven’t heard her father getting involved in social problems of the country (am within the age range of her adoptive parents); his adoptive dad was filthy rich though; that is why he and his wife were able to send little Grace to exclusive schools in Manila then sent her over to the US of A to continue her education there. Grace speaks, almost reverently, of the present Phil. president, which to me does not augur well in terms of a new administration responding to the desire of the people that justice be served and that all those who were the fair-haired boys and girls of the present dispensation and who benefited immensely from corrupt deals and transactions, and out and out favoritism granted his KKK, be made to answer for their absolute incompetence, lack or no compassion at all for the common people, and above all for graft and corruption. At 47 y/o, and without honest-to-goodness in-depth experience in politics and governance, i doubt if Sen. will not fall prey to insistent requests/favors that will be asked of her by her benefactors, sponsors, friends, those who moved heaven and earth in order to favorably see her through the DQ cases. Quid pro quo, right? If i remember right, during the wake for her adoptive father, the then president for whom they harbored obvious hate sent a wreath but Poe and her mother unceremoniously dumped the said wreath outside of the group of welcomed flowers, etc. You call that pure in heart, pure of heart? It is not only lack of civility and education, it was an unchristian act.
Like Ms Poe Llmanzares, Gab Valenciano is very articulate. But that is all I can see of Ms Poe Llamanzares, very articulate. Running a presidency is not gauged by one’s eloquence. She has to earn her chops first. But how can one prove his/her worth if he/she keeps on changing her citizenship. She probably changed her citizenship to American because of the many advantages. Then she switched back to Filipino citizenship so she could run for elective office here in the PHL. So, what does that make her? To me, she is nothing but a user and a manipulator. We really do not know anything about Grace except that she is a foundling and was adopted by FPJ and Susan Roces. To most Filipinos, she is a Filipino Citizen with all the rights and privileges that come with being one. BUT, she is not a natural born citizen until she has proven her bloodlines, albeit, the Supreme Court decision to let her continue her run for presidency. To defend your friend from all the mud that is being thrown at her is admirable, indeed. But to criticize the way the PHL government is being run is unfair to say the least. You can’t be saying all those things while you are 10,000 miles away. If you want to defend your friend, do it here in the PHL; campaign for her here. I have yet to hear a Filipino living in the U.S. of A. that is against the presidential run of Grace, they are for rooting for her. So, what does that make of all the Pinoys living in the U.S? They still carry their regionalism; only this time their region is the U.S.
