Fashion designer Francis Libiran clarifies gown issue between Yaya Dub & Kim Chiu

Last Saturday, Maine Mendoza was wearing a pretty pink gown designed by Francis Libiran. Unbeknownst to many fans including this writer, she wore the same dress as Kim Chiu when the latter modeled for the “Francis Libiran Metrowear Icon” fashion show sometime in 2013 held in Shangri-la.

However, nitpicking fans from the rival show was quick to point out the similarities and made a mountain out of a molehill.

But not all fans mind the copying. Instead, a fan admire Maine Mendoza even more for being humble.

Francis Libiran released a statement recently via Instagram clarifying the gown issue between Maine Mendoza and Kim Chiu. Check out what the designer has to say:

We are so glad, honored and grateful that Maine Mendoza and her official stylists, Stylized Studio, Inc., chose a beautiful Francis Libiran dress from our Spring/Summer 2015 . Maine Mendoza’s gown at Eat Bulaga’s Tamang Panahon concert for a cause was bought and paid for by Eat Bulaga Production. The gown was first previewed during the “Francis Libiran Metrowear Icon” fashion show held at the Edsa Shangri-la in 2013 where we launched an entire 100-piece collection, including the Pink Series. Our good friend Miss Kim Chiu was generous enough to model this gown for the said fashion show. This gown has not been worn at any other event by any other celebrity.
