The FB page Now in Tacloban – Island in the Philippines did talk to the American and got the permission to post this on social media.

According to the American, he was amazed how Filipinos could speak so bad of a person without having the evidence to back up their claims. Yes, he was quarantined for 10 days and the test results came back negative.

The American took a jab at the some of our countrymen’s attitude of treating anyone with the virus like a “garbage”.

Even if the test would have been positive, still it doesn’t give someone the right to treat another person like garbage. Those that were infected did not ask to be infected, it could happen to anyone.

The American urged Filipinos to have compassion on fellow human beings.

He also commented about the Filipinos religiosity, of knowing Jesus but our comments speaks otherwise. He asked, “where is the love?”

The American reminded Filipinos Jesus’ words that the world would know that we are his disciples by the love that we show towards others.

He ended the long statement that regardless of race we should show love and compassion towards our neighbors towards our fellow man.

Here is his statement (with permission to post from the patient)

Here is my take on this concerning the Filipino people and their attitude towards this situation: I am an American that lives in the Philippines but I was working in Wuhan, China where the outbreak occurred. I came back home on January 17 and I had a mild cold and after seeing the news about the virus as all we were told at work was a pneumonia flu going around but they never told us the truth. I got myself checked and since I had a flu like symptom (my cough) and I was travelling from Wuhan I had to be quarantined.

It got reported the same day that I went to the hospital that I had the virus before any tests were conducted. Filipinos spreading fake news then the comments that I was reading left me in amazement that could speak so bad of a person without having the evidence to back up your claims. I was quarantined for 10 days and my test results came back Negative.

Even if tests would of been positive it still doesn’t give someone the right to treat another person like garbage. Those that are infected didn’t ask to be infected it could happen to anyone.

Learn to have compassion on your fellow man. Most Filipinos claim to know God but by the comments they are portraying where is the love? Jesus said that the world would know that we are his disciples by the love that we show towards others.

So I send this reminder to all that regardless of race we should show love and compassion towards our neighbors towards our fellow man.
