ICYMI, ABS-CBN’s lawyer said there is nothing wrong with ABS-CBN having Philippine Depositary Receipts – then went on to compare it to a bet placed on a race horse.
“For example, when someone place a bet on a certain horse, it does not mean he owns the horse but when the race horse wins, he will get his share of the winnings.” [Link here]
“Simple, madali intindihin di po ba?” Free Spits asked.
Now, Free Spits wants netizens to ponder this scenario, “Ngayon, isipin natin ito.”
What if someone give P1M to the owner of the race h0rse named ABS as a bet or investment and the owner of ABS accept and then spend it.
On the day of the race, the investor, the one who gave P1M to the owner of the race horse named ABS, bet P10M on the other race horse.
And simultaneously, gave instruction to the owner of the race horse ABS to deliberately lose the race or return the P1M, which the latter already spent.
Free Spits said this presents a crisis to the owner of ABS for sure, “Biglang may krisis ang may-ari ni ABS di po ba?”
Because there are directions that owner of ABS must take, throw the race away or the owner of ABS will have to return the money he received before the race.
At this juncture, Free Spits urges netizens to imagine if this happens in real life and think of the results of the action of the biggest TV network in the country. “Ngayon, let’s translate it to real life at isipin ang resulta sa gagawin ng pinakamalaking network sa bansa.”
Free Spits asked netizens what will be ABS-CBN’s next move, “Sa tingin ba natin babayaan nila na malugi sila o ibebenta nila ang karera?”
Free Spits called the situation of ABS-CBN ‘compromised situation‘. A situation wherein ABS-CBN’s integrity will be put to test especially when the owner of PDR, in this case Singapore, have friction or conflict with the Philippines.
Free Spits this makes the situation very complicated. “Biglang komplikado ano po?”
