“Tuta ng China!” This is the familiar cry of the supporters of the opposition and even the byword of politician critics during public appearances to throw shade at President Duterte for maintaining close relations with the Chinese government amid issues in the West Philippine Sea.
However, Manila Bulletin writer and Duterte supporter Krizette Laureta Chu found a strong argument to prove the critics wrong that the Philippines or Duterte is China’s puppet as the opposition critics and their supporters alleged.
On Facebook, Chu shared a graphics from Bloomberg showing side by side comparison of the infrastructure projects in South Asia funded by money from China and Japan.
Chu pointed out the glaring fact that the Philippines isn’t China’s puppet. In fact, the country is lagging behind among its South Asian countries as the favorite recipient of Chinese money in terms of infrastructure projects.
A closer look at the data showed Indonesia (55), Cambodia (28), Malaysia (31), Laos (23) and Vietnam (25) as the top 5 South Asian countries getting the larger pie from China. The Philippines cornered only (8) infra projects from China. How’s that for a “Tuta of China”?
Meanwhile, Japan is funding (29) infrastructure projects in the Philippines, making the country as the 3rd largest beneficiaries of Japan-led infrastructure thrust in South East Asia. Vietnam topped the list with (74) projects and Indonesia receiving 51.
In light of this information, Chu couldn’t help but shoved this to the faces of the opposition critics and supporters to hep them realize that calling Duterte or the Philippines as China’s puppet or “Tuta ng China” is wrong.

Tuta ng China eh nasa bottom 2 tayo ng Chinese infra development sa SE Asia at pinipigilan niyo pa yung ibang projects nila dito.

5 bansa na ang hinahabol natin sa SE Asia with Vietnam poised to be as big as Singapore (economy) or even better in 10 years. Ganyan na ganyan din ang ranking natin sa SEA Games. Hindi natin namamalayan umaarangkada na rin ang Cambodia at Myanmar kasi kuntento na kayo sa 1987 Constitution na pro-oligarchs and elitists! Akala mo naman nakapa-perfect niyan eh kulang nga sa proofreading. Nagmamadali kasi noong ginawa yan dahil naiinip na ang taumbayan na bumoto ng local leaders nila (aprubado agad ng taumbayan kahit hindi na nila binasa at inintindi ang laman).
Tingnan niyo ngawa nang ngawa sina Winnie at Christian Monsod na akala mo ambabrayt noong nasa gobyerno pa sila. Yumaman lang naman lalo yung mga mayayaman na at lalong nabulok ang political at electoral system ng bansa. Ambabrayt kasi!
