Journalist Ira Panganiban questions motive behind rush approval of Pnoy’s P3B dengue vaccine that turned out to be harmful to recipients?

Towards the later part of the Pnoy administration, the DOH (Department of Health) went ahead with the implementation of the P3B dengue vaccine despite warnings from critics.

Then Secretary of Health Garin blasted critics, accusing them of not caring for the health of the public.

A year later, the tide has quickly turned and the critics were proven to be correct about the dengue vaccine that the Pnoy administration fought hard amidst heavy opposition.

Journalist Ira Panganiban took to Facebook begging for answers why the Pnoy government rushed the approval of the multi-billion-peso dengue vaccination program despite the strong opposition a year ago.

Panganiban writes:

“In 2016, then Health Secretary Janet Garin blasted critics of the 3 billion vaccination campaign using Dengvaxia. She said these people did not care for the health of the public.

The critics were apprehensive because the drug has not passed the trial phase yet. Today the critics were proven right and those who received the vaccine are in worse danger of dengue.

Question? Why the rush to approve the 3 billion peso program then kasi?”

Netizen Regel Javines reacts:

“That is when the call of greed starts creeping… yikes.”

Felina Pacula says:

“Yan ung moment na ngpapabango sya sa taumbayan kc gusto nia maretain ng matagal sa pwesto kya nia inaprub ung dengvaxia kht sya wlang kasiguraduhan ung vaccine na yan.. wg lng sana tlga mgkaron ng malalang sakit anak ko dhl nka 2 dose pa nmn sya ng gamot na yan😡😡”
