In case you missed it, a US senator did a file a bill seeking to ban PH government officials involved in the “wrongful imprisonment” of Sen. Leila de Lima. [Inquirer]
Of course, the Opposition, particularly Senator Kiko Pangilinan hailed the move of the US senator as act of solidarity to de Lima.
A visibly irked lawyer Trixie Cruz-Angeles, a President Duterte supporter, couldn’t contained herself and called out Senator Kiko Pangilinan’s hypocrisy on Facebook as soon as she reads the PDI article about the Senator’s reaction on the US senate bill.
In the Facebook post, Angeles asked Pangilinan where was he when human rights violations was rampant when BS Aquino was the President of PH?
Angeles cited the 2014 report by “The Alliance for the Advancement of People’s Rights (Karapatan), a human rights group in the Philippines, wherein six extra-judicial killings were recorded. In addition, Karapatan recorded 152 extrajudicial killings from 2010-2013, eighteen of which were enforced disappearances, eighty instances of torture and 168 failed assasinations.
Angeles remarked that the statistics cited by Karapatan did not even mention the many Filipinos who experience extreme hardships (living condition) because of epic failures of BS Aquino and Pangilinan.
Angeles said that Pangilinan’s silence was “wagas” or pure when his LP allies were involved.
Angeles asked Pangilinan how can de Lima be called a victim when she was given due process? There are court hearings and evidences? She was not tortured or shot at?
Angeles added that de Lima has a personal cell. She is feed well. She can even issue statements via handwritten notes to the local media. Obviously, she enjoys her freedom of speech.
Angeles ended the FB post by dismissing Pangilinan’s statement as nothing but partisan politics and markedly not interested in human rights issues or the welfare of the nation.

Lintian kang Kiko Pangilinan ka, nasaan ka nung may human rights violations under BS Aquino?
Nung 2014 pa lang “The Alliance for the Advancement of People’s Rights (Karapatan), a human rights group in the Philippines, has already documented six extrajudicial killings in 2014. According to Karapatan, from July 2010 to August 2013 there were 152 extrajudicial killings, eighteen enforced disappearances, eighty instances of torture and 168 unsuccessful assassination attempts.” (https://www.thenation.com/…/how-us-aid-fosters-human-right…/) Kulang pa yang statistics na yan kasi ang daming naghirap nung namamayagpag ang kalokohan ninyo ni BS.
Wagas katahimikan mo pag kapartido mo, ano?
At haller? PAANO NAGING VICTIM si Delima, aber? Naghi-hearing. May ebidensya, due process. Hindi siya tinotorture. Di siya pinagbabaril sa rally.
Linek, eh may personal cell pa siya. Nakakakain ng maayos. Nakakapagisyu pa ng mga sulat sulat ek ek. Obviously di napigil freedom of speech niya.
Partisan politics lang nilalaro mo Sen. Kiko. Wala ka talagang interes sa human rights o kapakanan ng bayan.
