A brief standoff occurred between a senator and a police after the former insisted of entering Camp Crame to visit Leila de Lima.
The senator is none other than Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, the Liberal Party president, who wished to visit his colleague and partymate as a show of support.
The senator who arrived aboard his Ford SUV got off the car after the police stopped them from entering Cramp Crame without security clearance.
An male aide joined him in confronting the police official.
The verbal exchange between the senator and the police officer does not give us the entire picture but it appears that the Senator and his companions were stopped because there was an instruction to carefully screen visitors due to heightened security.
The senator can be heard saying that the media freely go in, while a senator is not allowed to go in.
In the end, Pangilinan and his companions were allowed too go in.
However, senator Kiko Pangilinan has been getting the flak from netizens because of how he carried himself in the video.
Let us check the comments of the social media people in the thread.
Moi Gonzales wrote: “Just because your a senator it means youll have an exemption. there was an instruction…masyado nyong binibigyan ng drama yung katokayo mong mahilig sa saba. Your loyalty is in your party. NOT in your country.”
Tristan Malitao Sabio commented: “Simpleng rules lng yan! hindi k agad makaka pasok sa Camp crame kung wala kang access passes sabi ni Gen. same sa mga subdivision my sticker! gnun den s crame! puro kengkoy mga tao dito! grabe kauto-uto mga tao dto!”
Mariolito Tumbagahan Dimaano said: “Matoto kang sumunod. May sumusunof lng sila sa protocol. Bakit senado ba yan. Crame yan tanga!! Doon sa senado kapag gagawa ng batas. Ano ka chief of stop. Kaya nga ang politika sa pilipinas akala mo dyos na e. Sunod na elecksyon KIKO PANGILINAN hindi na kita ibubuto….”
Ronash Orednom chided Pangilinan for his action: “Yabang naman. Protocol yan. Wala ng exemption ngayun. May instruction sa mga pulis po. Ung loyalty nila wala na sa LP. Get it.”
Stella Pascual Agustin scolded Pangilinan for treating the police official like a mere security guard: “Amazing lang sir. You are proud to show us your arrogance on how you treated the police? Na parang security guard lang sila? Security guard nga di dapat tinatrato ng ganyan eh regardless of your position in the society. Uniformed personnel pa. Politically persecuted nga kayo. “
Meanwhile, Pangilinan’s supporters defended his action.
Arjay Salvani wrote: “Sino yang kausap ni Kiko! mukang tanga sumagot. May instructions daw sya to screen, ulol ka, Senator yan, ano pa gusto mo iscreen?!!!”
Do you agree it’s fair to bash Senator Kiko Pangilinan for only trying to lend his moral support to a colleague?
Sen. Kiko Pangilinan was initially blocked from entering Crame, but was soon allowed to enter the camp. They cited heightened security as the reason. Sen. Kiko complains that, while all the media freely go in, a Senator of the Republic is told that he is not allowed to.
