Look: China lands first tourists on Fiery Cross Reef in the Spratly’s

In a move that would surely infuriate the other claimant countries, China has allowed the first group of tourists to visit its man-made island in the Spratly’s.

According to Sina News, Hainan Airlines flew in the first batch of civilian tourists to the disputed Fiery Cross Reef or Yongshu Island on Friday.

“The tourists are wives and children of the soldiers stationed in the man-made island,” the post reads.

Last week, China tested the diplomatic waters by landing the first civilian planes to the island from Hainan Province. This move from China merited a diplomatic protest from Vietnam and other claimant countries.
