ICYMI, there was a propaganda blitz, apparently to drum up interest of the movie Katips in the first day of its showing, claiming it has managed to outperform its rival in terms of movie tickets sales.
Many FB pages picked up the online propaganda and shared the good news to their FB followers like the page The BOB – Box Office Boss.
Showbiz writer Ogie Diaz and former Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon also joined the bandwagon by sharing the sales figure of Katips. The director of Katips even corrected Ogie Diaz on Twitter which you can see the image below.
However, the mood suddenly changed after some netizens tagged the BIR, telling them to keep tab of the movie ticket sales of Katips for future reference. You know for taxation purposes!
Katips director Vince Tanada took to Twitter once again to clarify that he was just joking with regards to the ticket sales of his movie.
Manila Bulletin writer Krizette Laureta Chu immediately took to Facebook to tell the sympathizers of the movie ‘Maid in Malacanang’ to let the camp of Katips continue lying about their ticket sales.
Why? Chu said the BIR can charge them for an income they don’t even have. That way, it’s the government who be laughing all the way to the bank and they will suffer a double black eye. Aside from getting charged for an income they don’t even have, nobody believes their narrative.
You may read Ms. Chu’s original FB post below.
Hayaan nyo magsinungaling sila kung magkano kinita nila sa takilya. BIR na bahala mag charge sa kanila for an income they don’t even have. It’s a win-win for the government.
Hindi Kumita – walang naniniwala sa narrative nila.
Kumita – BIR
