After GMA News reported that Asec Mocha Uson did something disrespectful by taking a selfie inside the Grand Mosque, Mocha responded by calling GMA News’ report fake news. Here’s why!
In Jessica Soho’s State of the Nation, the broadcaster started along this line and read:
“Inuulan na namam ng batikos si Asec Mocha Uson kasunod ng pagsama nya sa loob ng Grand Islamic Center sa Marawi City. Pinuna ng taga-pagsalita ng Lanao del Sur Peace and Order Council na si Zaa Alonto Adiong ang pagseselfie ni Uson habang nakasuot ng boots sa loob ng Mosque.”
Jessica Soho’s news lead reached the attention of Mocha Uson and quickly uploaded a video, calling Jessic Soho’s report on the matter misleading.
Uson said the selfie did not happen inside the Grand Mosque, but taken in the AFP command center in the battle zone with the soldiers.
Mocha shared the original video to prove her claim, belying the Jessica Soho report that the selfie was taken in the Grand Mosque.
According to Jessica Soho, Mocha Uson uploaded the selfie and the video taken inside the mosque, but took it down after getting flak on social media.
Soho said that Uson has not released any statement regarding the issue.
Mocha asked Soho: “Walang pahayag??? Ni hindi nyo ako tinanong?”
As to the video inside the mosque? This is what Mocha said: “At patungkol sa video sa loob ng Mosque. Trabaho ko po ang i-dokumento si PRRD para sa social media pero taliwas sa sinabi nyo, hindi ako nagselfie sa mosque.”
Mocha then showed the video taken inside the mosque.
Mocha called the attention of the public that she was not the only women who entered the mosque not wearing a hijab. She asked why?
Because PRRD wanted to see the frontline where the fighting has been intense. AS they approached the frontline, the exchange of gunfire became heavier and heavier so that’s when th ground commander told the group including PRRD and Mocha and the rest of women to enter the mosque for cover.
In the heat of the criticism against Mocha, PRRD defended her and said: “Before anything else, it is the right of preservation. Kaya alng kami doon nagestambay kasi ayaw pumayag ng ground commander na nandoon kami may pulmuutok. Ako gusto ko tingnan. Sabi nya wag, diyan ka alng. Sabi niya pumasok ka dahil sa bala, ulo. Do not draw unpleasant inferences because no wants to dishonor a religion.”
In the end, Mocha asked for understanding for not wearing a hijab and removing her boots while entering the mosque. She said she had no intention of disrespecting the mosque.
As of this writing, Mocha’s video has gathered 419K views, 8.160 reactions and 3, 265 comments on Facebook 3 hours after the video was published.
