More than 300 people involved in the illegal drug trade surrendered to the police in Quezon City

In light of the recent spike of killings of individuals involved in the illegal drug trade, more than 300 people surrendered to the police in Quezon City.

According to the report of Susan Enriquez of 24 Oras, at least 352 users and drug pushers voluntarily surrendered to the police in Quezon City for fear they might get killed during a police operation.

The 352 individuals came from 12 different barangays in Quezon City and went to the QC Police District to surrender where they were interrogated in regards to their source and underwent a drug test.

If you’d recall, President-elect Duterte asked each local barangay leaders to come up a list of people involved in the illegal drug trade and submit it to the authorities.

With that being said, the 352 individuals who surrendered to the QC police were the ones that appeared in the list submitted by their respective barangay captains.

According to the report of 24 Oras, the 352 individuals who voluntarily surrendered will not ne incarcerated, rather they will undergo drug rehabilitation and given financial assistance to pursue a different livelihood.

A female drug user talked to Susan Enriquez of 24 Oras and said she got scared after the series of sting operation against the illegal drug trade that resulted in the deaths of several drug pushers.

Moreover, the QC Police issued a severe warning to individuals who refused to heed their call.

Meanwhile, the spike of drug pushers getting killed has caught the attention of President-elect Duterte and when asked for a comment on the matter, this is what told GMA News.

Parang binibigyan mo lang ng salida—just for show.

Earlier, during a meeting with business leaders at the SMX Pasay City, Duterte expressed his dissatisfaction with the uptick of the killings of drug pushers and drug personalities around the country in the past few weeks.

And I said, prepare a massive revamp.

Even Erwin Tulfo posted something about President Duterte’s displeasure with the killings of the small time drug suspects.
