Netizen accuses a senator of using SEA Games issue to divert public away from red-tagging, NPA issues?

On the feud of Senators Pia Cayetano and Risa Hontiveros over Southeast Asian Games facilities which the latter tagged “white elephant”, a netizen named Tio Moreno accused the latter of using the SEA Games issue to divert public attention away from the red-tagging and NPA brouhaha.

You may browse the soundbites of the protagonists below for context.

Moving forward, Moreno called Hontiveros “hypocrite” for questioning the budget for the construction of the “world class” SEA Games facilities.

“After being slammed with facts on SEA GAMES “Kikiam” issue, oppositions especially the hypocrite Risa Hontiveros is now questioning the 9.5B budget (which complied to all the stringent requirements of DBM) for the construction of the “world class” SEA Games facilities.”

Moreno defended Cayetano claiming Senator Cayetano was not fulminating because Hontiveros expressed interest in probing the budget for alleged corruption rather because the latter called it “white elephant” and also for using the issue for her political propaganda.

“She even tagged this to be a “white elephant” which causes the fulmination of Senator Pia Cayetano. Let me get this straight, Cayetano was not angry with Risa probing for the budget, she’s angry with the epal senator for making it political to advance their propaganda.”

Moreno wondered how come Hontiveros called it “white elephant” when the sports facilities will become of the National Sports Academy, which was signed into by no less than President Duterte.

“Of course how will it become a white elephant if in the first place President Duterte signed into law the Republic Act 11470, which establishes the National Academy of Sports (NAS)?”

Moreno went on to enlightened the Senator regarding the details of Republic Act 11470.

“Just in case you don’t know, a full scholarship program will be given to the qualified student-athletes. This includes the indigenous peoples in our country, persons with disabilities, and those who come from other marginalized groups. It’s main campus is the New Clark City Sports Complex in Capas, Tarlac.”

Moreno accused Hontiveros of using the SEA Games facilities issue to divert the attention of the public away from the most popular issue lately – red-tagging and NPAs.

“Clearly, Hontiveros doesn’t know this because she is diverting the attention of Filipino people against the issues on red-tagging and NPAs— issues that are currently placing the Senate on fire.”

Moreno tagged Hontiveros as such because he didn’t say a word against the NPA atrocities and worse, she proposed to defund NTF-ELCAC because she accused it of red-tagging and spreading false information, turning a blind eye to the evidences the agency have at hand.

“We didn’t hear this woman condemning the atrocities committed by CPP-NDF-NPA. Instead, she wants to defund the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) because she believes that this agency only red-tags and spreads false information despite the many evidences they have at hand.”

Moreno urged netizens to imagine the hypocrisy of Hontiveros amid her proposal to defund the agency that fights the communist insurgency.

I”magine, she wants to cripple the agency that fights and exposes the never-ending insurgency in our country by getting their budget? Hypocrite!”

Moreno cited another proof Hontiveros’ loyalty is questionable citing a remarks she made against the very senate she is part of.

“She even lambasted the Senate by saying, “Todo nakafocus sa CPP at sa NPA — the remnants of an insurgency facing imminent defeat in the battlefield– pero walang angal na papapasukin sa ating bansa ang isang dayuhan bayan”—- which is a clear manifestation that she is defending terrorists.”

Moreno arrived with the conclusion that Hontiveros is an NPA enabler based on her behavior and statements made before the public.

“If that is not being an NPA Enabler, I don’t know what that is.”

Moreno isn’t done yet and refreshed the memories of the public by raising the issue of the missing Yolanda funds again and how Hontiveros, who is now trying to build an image of a graft buster, kept her mouth shut by not calling for an investigation on the issue or even say a word.

“Risa, where are you when Aquino administration mess up the DISASTER FUNDS? Funds that do not serve the peoples’ needs, only the politicians and business allies of the Aquino government?”

Moreno rattled off numbers that runs in mind-boggling billions of pesos during PNoy’s administration which Hontiveros mysteriously did not bother to ask or make a hoot like recently.

“These funds include the P20-billion ($444 million) rehabilitation supplemental budget in 2014, the P23.8-billion ($528 million) Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) allocations on disaster management, the proposed P20.5-billion ($455 million) ‘disaster pork barrel’ in the 2015 budget, and the P171-billion ($3.8 billion) proposed ‘Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Recovery Plan.”

Moreno ended the FB post by pointing an accusing finger at the Senator.

“You are silent and you don’t probe those because maybe you’re one of the recipients🙄”
