Netizen’s post threatening to harm President-elect Duterte has gone viral

A twitter post threatening to assassinate President-elect Rodrigo Duterte has caught the attention of netizens days after it hit online.

The twitter post was published in response to the controversy surrounding Mariz Umali of GMA News and catcalling incident that even led to the stoppage of the press briefings of the President-elect with the Manila-based media.

The issue has been hotly debated in the social media since then, that an exchange of heated words was to be expected in a polarized and highly politicized netizens.

Whether the threat is to be taken seriously, it is up to the police authorities to qualify if the matter warrants an investigation or not.

Meanwhile, the threatening tweet has been shared in the Facebook groups identified with the supporters of the President-elect and in one of the posts, a reward money has been mentioned to hasten an NBI investigation.
