Walang alam at walang paki-alam.” — Lady doc on people of Tarlac town amid opposition to use Clark as quarantine site

An obviously exasperated lady physician on news report that a Tarlac town (Capas) is strongly opposed to the use of New Clark City as the coronavirus quarantine site has taken to social media to educate the residents of the said town about the coronavirus.

In the Facebook post published on 8 February 2020 , Dr. Ethel Pineda, a trained physician and dermatologist, answered the three major concerns of of the people of Capas, Tarlac justifying their opposition point by point.

First, Pineda, in a frank manner, stressed the importance of educating themselves to the people of Tarlac. She said that the virus won’t fly by air from the Athletes Village to their houses.

Pineda explained that the coronavirus is a droplet infection. According to her, the virus stays airborne for only six feet maximum if the carrier coughs or sneezes and did not wear a mask. She assured the people of Capas Tarlac that the OFWS who will be quarantined in the Athletes Village is not allowed to go out. They will stay quarantined for 14 days and allowed to go home if they show no symptoms of coronavirus.

Second, Pineda asked the people of Capas Tarlac what stigma are they talking about. She explained that the virus dies after applying disinfectant and dies, when no disinfection done, in a matter of a few days. She said people scared of coronavirus are ignorant. They need education.

Third, she asked what investment are they talking about? She asked if the people of Capas Tarlac would prioritize their fantasies of money over nationwide emergency?

According to Pineda, the State has the right to use whatever facility available during nationwide emergency. No need to ask permission.

Pineda said she cannot understand what kind of Filipinos are they. She likened them to Noynoy who also hails from Tarlac. Noynoy knows nothing and does not care what is going on.

Walang alam at walang paki-alam.
