“Para sa boto ang laban na to” — Singer-composer and self-confessed Pacquiao fan jokes why he is boycotting Manny’s fight vs Errol Spence

Singer-composer Jimmy Bondoc said on Facebook that like many DDS, he is boycotting Manny Pacquiao’s upcoming fight vs American boxing champ Errol Spence.

But before his followers will get mad at him, Bondoc wants the opportunity to state his reasons before they cant start getting mad at him.

“Hindi po ako manunuod ng laban ni Manny, katulad ng madaming DDS.
Pero bago kayo magalit, ito muna ang dahilan.
Tapos, magalit na kayo.”

Bondoc confessed he was not really into boxing until Manny Pacquiao came because back then, you can see that Pacquiao was fighting for the pride and honor of the country.

“Hindi naman ako boxing fan kasi,
kahit dati pa.
I was a Manny fan.

Of course, Bondoc acknowledged Pacquiao was also fighting for the prize money. It’s okay for him. He is not taking away anyone’s right to fight for their personal being and family.

“Syempre, pinaglaban niya rin ang sarili niya
at yung prize money.
Wala namang masama dun.
Ok nga yun e.
We should all fight for ourselves and our families.”

Bondoc remarked that he found Pacquiao inspiring because his every fight, there was always “para sa bayan” aspect.

“Pero nakakahanga siya noon,
kasi laging may ‘para sa bayan’
na aspeto ang laban niya.”

However, Manny’s fight with Spence has a different twist to it. It is now more of Manny’s personal interest.

“Pero ngayon, sa laban na ito,
masasabi ko pong buong paniwala
NA PARA SA SARILI NIYA LANG
ang laban na ‘to.”

Bondoc cited the reasons why he said so that Pacquiao’s fight has lost the “para sa bayan” aspect to it.

Ngayon, ang boxing ni Manny, ay:
(1) Kampanya para sa election;
(2) Fundraising para sa election;
(3) isang DIRECT VIOLATION NG CAMPAIGN PROMISE.

At this juncture, Bondoc recalled Pacquiao’s promise to retire from boxing if and and when he wins a senate slot. In addition, Manny promise not to skip one senate session. He also made such promise when he ran for Congress,

“Noon, ang linaw niyang sinabi na kapag nanalo siya bilang Senador, hindi na siya magbo-boxing at papasok na siya bilang senador fulltime. Hindi daw siya mag-a-absent.
Pinangako niya rin yun nung tumakbo siya sa Kongreso.”

However, Bondoc soon realized that Pacquiao is not really fighting for our “bayan” but his personal interest which is fine if he was just an ordinary person. But this is not the case.

“Pero ulit-ulit kong natuklasan na hindi naman pala “bayan” ang pinaglaban ni Manny. Sarili lang talaga. Which, again, is fine. Kung hindi ka public official.”

Now, Pacquiao wants to become a president even if he knows that as a president, it is a full-time job.

“Ngayon, gusto niya mag-Pangulo,
kahit alam na alam niyang
FULL-TIME ang magiging Pangulo.”

Bondoc wants to know whether Manny will split his time between boxing, basketball leagues or anything that catches his fancy if becomes the president?

“Pag maging Pangulo siya,
ilang laban pa at pa-Liga ang aasikasuhin niya?
Ilang absent pa ang gagawin niya
upang magawa ang susunod niyang mapag-tripan?”

Bondoc said Pacquiao’s boxing upcoming match is still a must watch fight for any boxing fans. He said if his father was still alive, he would watch this fight.

“Ang laban na ‘to siguro ay maganda panuorin para lamang sa boxing fans.
Like my Dad. He was a boxing fan.
If he were alive today, manunuod siya sigurado, regardless of Manny’s intentions.”

“Kaya wala namang masama sa panunuod nito,” Bondoc clarified.

But for non-boxing fans, he advised them to boycott this.

“Pero sa aming hindi naman boxing fans,
walang magandang dahilan upang panuorin ang isang boxing match na dapat sigurong pamagatang:
‘The Ultimate Electioneering Match’
of all time.”

Once again, Bondoc asked boxing fans for understanding when DDS like him decides to boycott this particular fight to not contribute to Manny’s campaign kitty.

“Pasensya na sa boxing fans.
Pero sa mga DDS na hindi naman boxing fans,
wag na siguro natin dagdagan ang campaign funds ni Haring Manny.”

Bondoc ended the post by singing a line from Pacquiao’s song but with a twist.

Napakanta tuloy ako ng:
“Para sa boto,
Ang laban na ‘to.”
