Pinoy-at-heart Brit, finds GMA News photo of President Duterte upsetting, asks GMA if they have any standards or decency left in open letter?

The GMA News photo of President Duterte posted on their FB News page has been found upsetting by a Pinoy-at-heart British national named Malcolm Conlan.

In an open letter posted just recently on Facebook, Conlan said that he was upset of the GMA News photo of President Duterte wherein he was visibly wincing in pain, having sustained injuries from a motorcycle fall recently.

Conlan found it perflexing why the GMA News’ editorial team would chose a photo of a much respected and admired President who visibly in pain.

Conlan couldn’t help but asks if GMA News had any standards or decency? Conlan asked if President Duterte had stomach upset, would they have taken a photo of him queuing at a CR or toilet?

Conlan commended GMA News’ rival, ABS-CBN, for choosing a not distressing image of President Duterte while explaining why the President had to leave Japan earlier than scheduled.

Conland ended the open letter with the question what GMA News was trying to achieve for posting the upsetting photo when PRRD’s injury is temporary and the pain the President is experiencing, it doesn’t mean the President would be incapacitated long term, therefore Conlan found posting of the photo unnecessary. Conlan requested GMA News to remove the photo asap.

AN OPEN LETTER TO GMA NEWS.

FAO: GMA News,Manila, Philippines.

To the online news team.

To Whom it may concern,

I am writing to you following my concerns and upset over a photo you posted on your FB news page of President Duterte, clearly in pain, having sustained injuries from a fall off his motorbike recently.

I cannot understand for one minute why the editorial team would choose to publish a photo of a much respected and admired President, the world over, clearly in pain.

Don’t you have any standards or decency? If the President had a stomach upset, would you have taken a photo of him queuing at a CR? Come on, show some respect.

Thankfully, ABS-CBN has been a lot more gracious than yourselves and chosen to just describe the reason why the President had to leave Japan early, without posting such a distressing image.

What were you trying to achieve? This is only a temporary setback and pain the President is experiencing, it doesn’t mean the President would be incapacitated long term, so really it’s not necessary to post a photo of the President, clearly in pain, I hope you would be so kind as to replace or remove the image.

Thank you,

Malcolm Conlan,
UK supporter of President Duterte
London.
